This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
Hi all!I have been skulking around the forum for about a week now soaking in all the great info you have shared! I also applied for Spring 2012 and am going absolutely bonkers waiting to hear if I've been accepted! :uhoh21:
My stats:
Prereq gpa: 3.94
Science gpa: 4.0
Overall: 3.84
HESI: 95.1
I hope to see you all at orientation!
Hey jadeandjet - I recently found this forum too. It is so nice to know that there are so many people out there as anxious and nervous as I am. It also doesn't' make anything any easier to know that everyone has worked as hard as I have and has such amazing grades. With no interviews, what sets us apart? Anyway, it is great to know that those who want to be nurses are so passionate and ready to work hard. Good luck to you!!!!
alm, I know! I haven't read the entire thread (there's just so much of it!) but I've read quite a bit and everyone has such great grades and HESI scores. I'm hoping we're all just the top 80.
Regarding financial aid, I'm finishing up my last prereq's at lone star and the fin aid office told me that if I get accepted for Spring to come talk to them in Nov so they can work on transferring the remainder of my aid to UT. I really hope I would get additional awards too though, because my tuition and book costs at UT will be a lot higher than at LSC!
Oh my gosh I'm so nervous reading all of these posts! It's crazy how long it's taking to hear back from UT-H, especially since they're not conducting interviews. I'm just trying to keep busy and not think about it constantly. :)
Here are my stats:
Nursing Pre-reqs: 4.0
Science Pre-reqs: 4.0
Overall gpa: 3.854
HESI: 98
CT: 850
Does anyone know how much they are taking the Critical Thinking Section into account? Also, if we are accepted, what are the next steps? Will there be a group orientation? I feel a bit lost. Does everyone from the same acceptance period take the same classes together each semester, or do we pick and choose our own schedules? What about textbooks? Scrubs? Any equipment we'll need?
I'm so anxious! Good luck everyone!
Question! So what happens if we hear from one school before another and they give us a deadline to confirm before we hear from the other school? I'm concerned....
I accepted both that I was offered so far, but still waiting for UTHSC. You can always tell them you're not going to attend anymore at a later date after you're accepted somewhere else. Some schools require a seat deposit... like I had to pay $100 to accept my admission to UTHSCSA, which would have been applied towards my tuition once we started the semester, but I won't be going there anymore. UTMB didn't require a seat deposit. UTHSCSA was the first school I heard from though, and I had to accept in 4 days, so I didn't want to risk telling them NO then not getting in anywhere else... that would be a pickle.
The only thing is that you should let them know as soon as possible that you're not going to attend that semester anymore so that they can admit another student off the waiting list. I've heard stories of people getting pulled in from the waiting list the first day of orientation because people simply didn't show up. They practically need a miracle to get everything done in the few days before school starts! Although I'm sure the school works with them in that situation...
I would just accept anything that comes your way until you find out that you've been accepted somewhere better.

I did the same thing. UTHSCSA didnt give us hardly any time to wait. I got my acceptance on that monday and they expected an answer by the same friday along with the $100 seat deposit.
I accepted as well. Id rather know Im going somewhere than not get in other places and then lose my spot there too.
