This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
One of my roommates currently attends UTMB and she has nothing but good things to say about their program. She says that they send out a positive vibe from the first day. Professors are extremely friendly and one of the main things she's constantly said is that they truly encourage students to succeed. If there were ever a problem she was able to use their open door policy. She has been able to establish a friendly relationship with all of her professors.
I can't say I've heard the same things come from UTHSCH, but then again I don't know anyone personally who can attest to their friendly professors that want students to succeed.
Heavy K, I have talked with people going to UTMB, UTH and TWU. The ones from UTMB LOOOVE it and report being highly supported. The same people also said that from what they have heard about TWU and UTH is that they try to weed people in order to keep the strongest. In addition, I talked with other friends that are currently attending UTH and TWU and what they said was they certainly DON'T make it easy and you can, expect lower grades from what you are use to (she went in w all A's and was making C's first semester, but that it got much better after that). They all llove their programs, but it is certainly no cake walk - as we all know and expect! So, that is what I have heard...and I know my friend at utmb reports higher grades her first semester than UTH or twu...who knows and they are all equally as smart as one another. Just be prepared to work your tail off for the next couple of years! Bahaahaa! ....are we not alredy use to this!?
