This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
@katybusymom completely agree. Anyone can have a 4.0 GPA and perfect HESI scores, but that doesn't mean they will be a good nurse. I have met some pretty uncompassionate nurses in my lifetime. How sad... I just now saw your HESI scores. They were great! :) I retake mine soon.
@warning-sign just saw your post about the CT questions. I might be a little late, but I am going to check it out anyway.
So this whole transcript evaluation... I haven't sent them my transcript yet, so I am hoping I can still get all of this done in time. I really didn't intend to procrastinate all of this, but I ended up taking summer courses that I didn't originally plan on which messed everything up. My school is going through a system change, so their transcript processing is all jacked up. D:
@taylorxteddy, I took a summer class at UTA, and they are taking FOREVER to post summer grades, so I am still waiting on my transcript as well. Grades are usually posted the week after the course ends, but not this time. It's really stressing me out.
I'm retaking the Hesi with the CT section on Wed, so I have to go through the whole process over again. I will feel a lot better about my application when I know everything has been submitted, but for now, I just have to keep moving forward.
I have been following the threads for months, as I am too an Fall 2012 hopeful. I am so nervous, about the Hesi because "NOW" I see for UTHSC you can only take it twice,omg. I currently work at IntraCare Med Center and have seen some of the UT students come thru there for their rotation. Unfortunately for me I was too scared to really say something. My GPA: so far is 3.8 with Science at 3.6.
I have two semesters left and I will be done with all of my classes Spring 2012.
If anybody has any advice about the Hesi i really, really, really appreciated it. I have 3 of the books already except for the CT. I plan to take the Test Sometime in September early October. If anybody want to form a study group for the Hesi test i'm all in. I wish everyone good luck.:)
hello great thread. I've applied and took HESI now just finishing up one last lab this fall semester.

science- 3.6
HESI- 82.2% overall and 800 on ct
Not great grades but hopeful! I was just wondering if anyone knew around when we would hear back from the school. I also applied to UTMB for spring and waiting to here back from them.
I'm taking classes towards a corporate communication major that i just started in case i don't get into the schools. I'm not sure if i should just not enroll this fall and wait to hear back from UT and UTMB, but i also don't want to fall behind if i don't get in.
Also, i heard a while back from the information session that UTH stopped interviews for a semester to see if it worked out better, does anyone know if they are doing interviews for spring 2012?
I just took the HESI..im kinda disappointed I know I could have done way better but idk
I got a 84.12 % overall and 750 on ct. I know my AP stuff really well it was really basic but I have no idea I just blanked!!!! I kind of just gave up on the end.
So deadline is Sep 1...should I try and retake it for a higher grade?!?!?!!? My overall GPA is 3.6 and science is 3.8 i think. help :'(
Hey everyone I'm applying to UTHSC as well! I take my HESI tomorrow...I'm so nervous! I don't really know what to expect as far as the format of the test goes and stuff. I have the study guide from evolve but it doesn't seem all that informative. But I keep hearing that the HESI iS easier than the TEAS which I've already taken so I hope that's true :) Does anyone have any last minute pointers for me?!
@Houston19 I went to the last info session and we were told that they're no longer doing interviews. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing at this point lol
Anyways, good luck to everyone taking the HESI this week! Can't wait to (hopefully) be a nursing student this springl!! :)
