This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
@nightinggale84 I have heard from several people that they did away with the entire interview process.. I have no idea why they would do that, but supposedly the spring 2012 cycle is supposed to be the first cycle where there is no interview process. Granted, that is only hear-say. Kind of disappointing if that is the case...
also... thanks! lol i completely forgot that I already filled out the form with the apartment ID.. so I am guessing that they will get my re-take scores, too?

no its tru, i called to schedule an interview emailed the dean and they said they had done away with it, even my friends who got in fall 2011 did not have an intervoiew
Yep, no interview for Spring 2012, nor was there an interview for Fall 2011 applicants. That question was asked at the info session that I attended. They said that basically it was a waste of time to do the interviews (ugh!), and that many other schools did not have an interview process either.
I really wanted an interview, but no such luck I guess if you look great on paper and have the personality of a rock, then you get in. It's really sad b/c I'll bet some really talented future nurses that have overcame major hardships in their lives are getting turned away because they don't look flawless on paper.
But, that's just MY two cents :)
FREE HESI REVIEW MATERIALS!I know it's late for Spring 2012 applicants, but if anyone is interested, I have the
-Evolve study guide
-a very basic A&P review that I put together
-A&P for Dummies Workbook
-conversion flash cards (just a few, but they helped on the math section)
-booklet of Critical Thinking questions (Warning_Sign sent the NCLEX Critical Thinking review book to anyone who asked, and I just printed the practice questions)
If anyone wants any of that, it's all yours!
I studied really hard for a few weeks and made a 97.6% overall and an 860 on CT, so I think some of those materials had to have helped! Let me know if you're interested.
Hey nightingale. I was wondering if u still have those materials. I'm very interested in them. Even if you have just one left ill take it! Please email me at [email protected]. I would really appreciate it. Thanks! !

i totally agree, nursing is a special field that is all about care, just because you are an academician does not mean you can care for people
@saraiish so disappointing. D: i guess that's another way to make the weed-out process more intense, though, because now it all depends on your paperwork.
suck for me cuz i look horrible on paper, but i know i would make a good nurse. anyway its not even the deadline yet and im going crazy and i cant wait much longer!!!!

Big ditto. I was just crossing my fingers to squeak by and get an interview and then lock it up during that portion. On the other hand, we can just let go and realize there's nothing more we can do after turning in the application. That takes a little pressure off... Just trying to see the silver lining here!
