This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
@Warning Sign, I just looked over the questions that you said would be helpful to know for the CT section of the Hesi.......OMG, I think I need to study a LOT more. I missed a ton of those questions
I know most questions have nothing to do with the HESI but I think if you take the time to practice those questions, you will obtain the habit of thinking critically
Hey everyone, I am also applying for the spring 2012 program!Nightingale: what do you mean by the transcript evaluations??
Thanks and best of luck to us all!
After you have your transcript(s) sent to UT, they send you an evaluation that will note any prerequisites you are missing and calculate your nursing and science GPAs. Sometimes they miss things, so go over it carefully. For example, I took an advanced anthropology course at UT Austin that counted as my writing component, but when I got my transcript evaluation from UTHSC, they said I was missing that course. I had to petition for a change- just sent an e-mail asking them to look at it again and note that UT Austin allowed that course to fulfill that same requirement. Does that help?
I'm not sure if all of that needs to be done before the Sept. 1 deadline. I think you just have to have credit for 40 of the 60 prerequisite hours. I imagine you can argue the details after the deadline, as long as that basic requirement is fulfilled.
I took my Hesi today at Lone Star-CyFair.
Reading 93
Grammar 94
Vocab 94
Math 90
A&P 84
Cummalative Score: 91
I couldn't take the Critical Thinking portion because they didn't offer it I'm scheduled to take it next week at a Prometric testing center for UTHSC. I really hope this doesn't mess everything up for me.

whoa! great scores! i have to retake the hesi(the whole thing) because i didn't take the ct portion. i wish i could just sit for the ct portion, but i was told that i have to sit for the whole entire test again. i previously took the hesi back in july for a different school that didnt offer the ct portion. contacted uthsc and was told i have to sit for the whole thing again.
