Hello friends!
I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:
A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)
I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!
Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?
Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!!
You still have time to retake that test. UTHSC allow you to take the HESI two times under their code.
However, they only take the score from the most recent one. Also, they do not "piece together" scores. All of the sections on your second test will be what they consider.
I would suggest signing up for a retake and keep reviewing all the topics, but spend additional time on your A&P.
I submitted on May 31, final paperwork was entered July 8th.
Missing AP II (Lab Component), Microbio, Developmental Psych (A class I had does not cover it), Intro to Soc, and Performing Arts (though an intro theatre class should count).
Also, Nutrition, but I am taking that now it finishes Aug 9th.
I do not want to cram all of these classes into one semester because I work 45 hours a week, and I have a second part-time job. So.... We shall see.
Where will you be taking the classes that you are missing? I took all the classes you listed except for Intro to Soc at HCC Southwest. I had some really good professors.
Do you have to take AP2 or just the lab portion? That does sound like it would be a tough semester, even if you did not work so much....
I hope to get my transcript eval soon. If I am short something, I want time to take it.
My fall semester is just Intro to Ethics and Chemistry. I am also taking a Medical terminology course, but I could drop that if I needed to take something else. I also could drop the Chemistry if UT decides to accept my Chem from 1992.
I'm taking the Hesi exam for the third time on August 9th! I'm so worried they won't consider my application due to me taking the Hesi three times. I have a pre-req gpa and science gpa of 3.5 but overall associate degree gpa is 2.5. Wish me luck and if you are religious, say a prayer for me please!
So, I was registered to take AP II and Micro at HCC Southwest, however, I just got into pre-Nursing at UTA. I have friends who have graduated from the program that loved it, and I know I stand a better chance of getting in if I take 30 credits or so there. Also, the cost is almost the same, and UTA is giving me Financial Aide which HCC is not. Soooo.... I'm thinking about taking them all at UTA.
So, I need the lab portion of AP II only because I took Physio at a school which only allowed Nursing Students and Kinesiology students into the lab. However, no one will let you take only thr lab, so I am taking the whole thing over.
