Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

Hey everyone! I had a question, if I decided to reapply do I have to resend my transcripts?

I don't think so, but I am not sure.

I was asking g myself the same question.

i hope not, that would be kind of dumb.

I was told no. only the most recent one of any in progress courses when grades post.

So I called UT yesterday to ask about a transcript evaluation (I applied for fall 2016 and spring 2017 and have never received one). The lady told me that one has never been done for me, essentially that no one has looked over my transcripts for both applications. Seriously makes me think that I never even had a chance. How can no one look at your transcripts during an admissions process?

@lstjohn1 What were your HESI scores?

90% overall

90% math

100% grammar

80% A&P

90% reading

88% vocab

910 critical thinking

That's surprising, that your file was not even looked at.

I'm so sorry.

Did they give a reason why no one looked over your transcripts??

Specializes in IMCU/PCU.

So pretty much, getting a transcript evaluation means your application got looked at. Not getting one means nobody even opened your transcripts?

I never received a transcript evaluation ! @lstjohn1 , maybe the person you spoke to gave you wrong info. How the heck can transcripts not be looked at, so exactly what is being looked at. I've called and emailed and haven't received an answer so I can give too much on this subject . But I hope this is all a misunderstanding , if not this is completely unfair ! Either way I'm still trying to be hopeful, that's all I can do for now .

I'm not sure if it means no one looked at the application, she didn't explicitly state that, but I don't understand how you can be considered for admission without having had an evaluation to at least calculate GPAs.

The lady I talked to was able to look in the system to see if a transcript evaluation was done and then requested one be mailed to be when she saw that it hadn't been done. Her number is 713-500-2106. This is all even crazier to me considering I WORK at UTHealth; I'm surprised with the lack of effort honestly.

@lstjohn1. Oh I see ! Yes the whole evaluation baffles me . I would think every student would receive one after submitting their application. Prairie View sends out evaluations about 1 to 2 weeks after their application deadline. And UT is known as one of the top nursing schools and yet things are unorganized, or so it seems . But I have read past threads and some people who did not receive evaluation had been accepted so again I am confused ! I did call that number, twice . Left a voicemail again today so hopefully I get a call back.
