A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)
I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!
Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

I just went through this thread and took a screanshot of everyone's stats who said they got accepted. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted, however, my stats including GPA and Hesi score are higher than at least 7 people on this thread alone who said they are accepted. And I'm waitlisted. I'm pretty sure my application just fell through the cracks.

I have higher stats than other too
And I graduated a year early as magna cum laude while working full time so...
I don't know what they are looking at but tells you alot about the school
I'm starting to think that it's all just about who you know. You can't really compete with someone who knows someone at the top. If I knew the application process was this much of a joke I wouldn't have waisted my money, my time, or energy working my butt off.
I don't think they would have time to look at Facebook and google for 1100 applicants. Besides, criminal background checks and drug tests are usually required for nursing school
Hey everyone! At this point I've come to the conclusion that this cycle I'm not getting in. From what I've read people have already been waitlisted. I will go ahead and apply for summer but mainly study for TEAS to get into TWU. There I have a better chance since I have a Bachelors and 3.7 Prereqs. Good luck to everyone!
If you take the TEAS you should apply to UTMB as well! They have a personal statement as part of their application and you may also be invited for an interview, so you are more than just a GPA and test score.
