UTH Cizik School of Nursing Spring 2021 (Pacesetter)

Published

Hi everyone! I found this forum last night and figured I would create this for anyone who wants to discuss the pacesetter program for Spring 2021. The application deadline will be here before we know it! I will be taking courses at San Jac this Summer to finish my pre-reqs ( a lot of the unfortunately ). Hope everyone is staying safe and taking this time to prepare as much as possible. I had been volunteering at Methodist but unfortunately that has ceased for now. Post anything you’d like here!

Does anyone know if they penalize you for repeated courses? Or do they just accept the highest grade

They just take the highest grade. I’ve gone to their info sessions twice

for cumulative GPA they count both into your GPA. but not for science and pre-requisite GPA they take the highest grade. I have also gone to their info sessions and they do not mention the cumulative GPA part but I have been reading for months now previous year applicants on here and they mentioned about cumulative GPA some mentioned they called the office of UT health and they told them they count both into the cumulative. From what I read you get your cumulative GPA in your transcript evaluation, but not everyone receives one so not to sure how that works.

Hey guys! Just noticed this forum! I was wait listed for UT Health Summer 2020! Sadly I missed the deadline for Fall 2020 so now I applied to Spring 2021! I have taken my HESI last year and I got a 90! I’m hoping to get in this time! *fingers crossed*

Excellent! That’s a great score, so fingers crossed you get in ?

Question for all of you —-

I’ve completed 52 of the 60 prerequisite hours. My current cumulative GPA (which is also my pre-req GPA as all college courses I’ve completed, ever, have been specifically for UT) is 3.94 (all A’s except one B in Chemistry :-/). Of the 8 hours still needed, 7 of those are science pre-reqs (all 4 labs and Microbiology lecture).

I’ve completed AP1, AP2, and of course Chemistry, so I have the required 8 science hours Needed to submit an application, but should I wait until after the Summer semester (taking all 7 science hours still needed to complete that portion) before requesting/submitting my transcripts? Assuming I get all A’s, my science GPA would then be 3.84 (and my overall prereq GPA around 3.96), vs. 3.67 science prereq GPA if I submit prior to the completion of the Summer semester.

Thank you for your help!

I think anything you can do to raise your GPA would be ideal and I also think showing you’ve completed the course in its entirety (lecture and lab) would be seen well. Do you know if you are able to take the lab portion after you’ve already taken the lecture? I know many colleges require you take them together. Very good stats btw!

I’m inclined to say that while they may post the cumulative GPA on the transcript evaluations, I’m pretty sure they dont look at it when making their admission decisions (only the pre-req and science GPA). At least thats according to their official policy on admissions criteria. I've also been looking at previous year applicants on here and I think many of them just said “cumulative GPA” when they meant to say “pre-req GPA”.

hello everyone,

I saw that I was eligible to apply to University of St. Thomas Fall 2020 cohort, and upon attempting to register for distant testing on HESI with their code, IT WORKED!

the test is through Prometric like with UT

anyway, if you want to go ahead and do yours as well their code is 200020

I am now waiting on the instructions from elsevier

THE UT HEALTH CODE FOR HESI IS WORKING!! You can now use the code to request a testing appointment (you’ll get an email).

Awesome! Thank you!

So who else is just supper nervous about applying? ? ? I literally check the pacesetter website every day even though I’ve read it several times haha. Also supper nervous about taking my Summer classes (critical for having a good academic record to submit). Really nervous about taking anatomy (took in HS and didn’t do so well, might of been because it was my senior year and I wasn’t very motivated). I’m really going to have no time to rest for AWHILE. Just gotta keep telling myself it all has a purpose in the end ?

Just scheduled my HESI for August 26th! I didn’t see any available dates in July (at least at the one open test center in Houston). So schedule asap! Also, it really was $115 ? ? ? I guess you pay for the convenience of having the results being sent straight to UT. I would of hand delivered the thing on a chariot for that price.

that is insane! I highly doubt that is the price every where else...I paid $75 with HCC's code and that includes the critical thinking through proctorU

Prometric charges almost what the test costs just to proctor the test.

It’s definitely insane. I just prefer not to do a test through ProcterU. I find online proctoring to be very distracting and I can never concentrate. Plus I’ve seen people have issues with getting scores sent when not using the UT code. I just want to be safe than sorry. If I was going to take it more than once I’d definitely do a trial run with another school.
