UTH Cizik School of Nursing Spring 2021 (Pacesetter)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I found this forum last night and figured I would create this for anyone who wants to discuss the pacesetter program for Spring 2021. The application deadline will be here before we know it! I will be taking courses at San Jac this Summer to finish my pre-reqs ( a lot of the unfortunately ). Hope everyone is staying safe and taking this time to prepare as much as possible. I had been volunteering at Methodist but unfortunately that has ceased for now. Post anything you’d like here!

hi everyone! Has anyone signed up for the HESI yet? I called UT health and she said that they do accept distance testing that opens up on may 1. However, I tried to put in ut id's number and it said "no exam." Can someone help me?

It’s an ongoing problem. Someone said dates would open May 1st but as far as I can tell that hasn’t happened. As soon as dates do open up I’ll be on it. Just keep checking every day and I would contact UT for additional guidance. They will likely know more than we will...

I called again and spoke to Joanne Mendoza. She said she was told May 1st but that she hadn’t received any additional information. She advised that I just keep checking the website. She also said we should have plenty of time to take the exam over the Summer before the application due date, so hopefully that’s earlier in the Summer rather than later. If I don’t see anything in the next few weeks, I’ll call her again.

I am having this issue as well when I tried to register through UT. I found another option though that might help you all out as well....

HBU is doing testing on campus. Also, HCC and LoneStar are offering HESI through ProctorU which you can take at home and schedule yourself at any time (24/7).

You do it at home, and download software to do the proctored test. Similar to Lockdown Browser, but there is an actual proctor in your test who you can speak to.

If all fails you could still take it without the UT code and then deal with sending them the scores a little later when you receive them. maybe its a problem through the website or something :(

actually , I feel like for it being proctored and not being able to take it on campus they'll make you choose to where you want to send it. I am guessing we have to keep trying until it opens.

Wait

the one we are waiting on for UT is also proctored from home?

If you guys want to schedule the HESI from home just use proctor U and choose HCC and then have your scores sent to UT once you have them

Could we do this even if we are not from the Houston area? and I am not completely sure about it being online but I am assuming since it's already May and things have not died down at all. unless they'll allow test-taking places to open, maybe it will happen for next month.

Yes, I believe so. You just create the account in proctor U and schedule the exam for a time and date convenient for you. It is great since you can schedule virtually at any time of the day not just regular business hours like testing centers typically do.

Is the information about this found on online for HCC? I have no idea what their code is or anything. Sorry for overwhelming you with replies.

Not from what I understand. “Distance testing” is done at testing centers. While having the test done through another institution (HCC, HBU, Lonestar, ProcterU, etc) is possible, sometimes it can be a hassle to have it sent over to UT and you absolutely dont want to deal with that if the September 1st deadline is approaching. I would personally wait to see when UT’s distance testing becomes available and schedule that. It’s the easiest way to ensure that your scores are automatically sent. Also IDK but I personally find it really difficult to concentrate with online proctoring. Much prefer testing centers.

Yes which is why I will be scheduling mine at HBU most likely to just have a date set.

I think they pushed the deadline back. I was on the admission page earlier and it had a November deadline. I know typically it’s September so I am not sure if it got pushed due to the testing center being closed and us not being able to schedule with the UT code
