UTH Cizik School of Nursing Spring 2021 (Pacesetter)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I found this forum last night and figured I would create this for anyone who wants to discuss the pacesetter program for Spring 2021. The application deadline will be here before we know it! I will be taking courses at San Jac this Summer to finish my pre-reqs ( a lot of the unfortunately ). Hope everyone is staying safe and taking this time to prepare as much as possible. I had been volunteering at Methodist but unfortunately that has ceased for now. Post anything you’d like here!

Yes which is why I will be scheduling mine at HBU most likely to just have a date set.

I think they pushed the deadline back. I was on the admission page earlier and it had a November deadline. I know typically it’s September so I am not sure if it got pushed due to the testing center being closed and us not being able to schedule with the UT code

I believe the November date is in relation to when you can expect to hear back on a decision if you’ve been accepted or not. So far, I’m still seing September 1st as the application deadline.

Is the information about this found on online for HCC? I have no idea what their code is or anything. Sorry for overwhelming you with replies.

Edited: Will update when I have the correct code. The code I posted was for Dental Hygiene.

Okay, so apparently only HCC applicants are able to use proctorU for HESI.

I have asked HBU if they are offering testing right now and will let you all know.

HBU has not responded regarding testing.

HCC requires that you be a student to do proctorU according to their ADN program, which has the critical thinking section as well.

I believe Lone Star is also requiring that you apply to their school to test through proctorU as well.

HBU is an option I believe for in person, but they have no responded. I didn't want to roll the dice and be out of money with no test scheduled.

Dang. I’m really wanting to avoid doing online proctoring as much as possible. I keep checking dates on the testing company website... Thanks for the information regardless. Thankfully I’m in no rush to take the test. Will probably do it in August. Remember that if you take it under the UTHealth code, you can take the test all the way up until the application deadline and it will be accepted.

Hey guys! Just noticed this forum! I was wait listed for UT Health Summer 2020! Sadly I missed the deadline for Fall 2020 so now I applied to Spring 2021! I have taken my HESI last year and I got a 90! I’m hoping to get in this time! *fingers crossed*

Awesome! Do you mind sharing your pre-req GPA and science GPA as well? This will be my first time applying and I’m really hoping for a first time acceptance. I’m estimating my pre-req GPA to be around 3.7 or 3.8 and a similar number for sciences. When I apply, I will still need to take MicroBio and Chemistry. All others I’ve completed or will complete before the deadline.

I have a overall 3.5 GPA, science GPA is 3.0, and HESI 90. I dont think I would have got in for FALL 2020 because fall semester is highly competitive. Keep in mind I have also retaken some classes, for example, Statistics and Chemistry.

Yeah Fall semester is always going to be more competitive. Did you take general (science majors) or introductory (non-science majors) Chemistry? I’m registering for classes this fall and I’m leaning towards the easier introductory course since UT (and all other schools I’m interested in) take either. I took chem a couple semesters back but completely forgot to take the lab and I also got a C. So ill be taking it again at San Jac with a professor who has good ratings.

Also waiting for guidance on when its possible to take the HESI ?

I took intro chem at lone star. I'll be taking CHEM 1408 (non-science major) in order to apply to TEXAS A&M and UTMB. I haven't taken college algebra, hopefully this Summer I can. I'm still working on that so I can apply to SamH. I took the TEAS this march and I did horribly. I got a 58 overall.

I know this is very specific but if anyone has heard of this situation and have gotten an answer id appreciate it. I'll still probably end up calling the office. I took Chem a couple semesters ago and got a C. However, I only ever took the lecture and not the lab. Therefore I will take it in the Fall (both LEC and LAB). I was wondering if they will factor in my lecture only chem when calculating my science and overall GPA? It’s not like a can take just the LAB by itself so why would they use it to factor the GPAs? I’m REALLY hoping they just dont include it and count it as not completed. It's the difference between like a 3.4 and a 3.7 GPA ? Ill have the required 8 science credits after taking both anatomy courses this Summer.

I'm also considering dropping AP 2 this Summer and taking Chemistry instead. Then ill take AP 2 in the fall along with MicroBio. That will give the 8 required science credits and also keep UTH from considering my past course.

Does anyone know if they penalize you for repeated courses? Or do they just accept the highest grade
