UTA Spring 2012

Published

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

THANK YOU! That is great help. I am feeling a little overwhelmed in this course...it's my last pre-req course and there is nothing but exams...stressful!!

So your advice, to make sure I understand it correctly, is to use the drug template on each drug class we learn about?

You are a great resource!! Thank you again!

I dont know how to private message or I would, but I found that this class is based 99 percent on the modules. I started out by reading the modules, but focusing on the book, and failed my second test (the first test is a cake walk). I then emailed the coach and asked what I could do to study better and she asked what my study habits were, and when I told her that I focused on the book, she told me that was my first mistake. She said that the class is "lecture based" which means read the modules!!! I ended up copying and pasting all the information from the modules into a word document and reading it over and over and over until I knew the information. I also did the drug profiles(most of the information comes from the modules)! I had these profiles next to me while testing and seemed to help when I forgot some small detail that led to the answer! hope this helps! goodluck

hey ezwol - what did you end up making in the class after you changed your studying to focus on the mods? did you fill out the drug templates for each category?

I ended up getting an A, mostly bc the teacher replaced our lowest test grade with the 2nd lowest test grade which heled me out a ton!! I did do the drug templates and it helped some on the tests, also make sure you really study your previous tests for the final. Shell re-open old tests a week before the final and I found that most of the questions in the final were from previous tests! Hope this helps!! Also, if anyone is in patho, I suggest you do the evolve modules bc most test questions come from those!!

thank you so much for the tips!!

Has anyone taken Pharm and Patho on compus at UTA? If so do you have any tips? Patho is completely based on tests and Pharm is based on quizzes and tests ( very intimidating!). There is so much pressure to make an A since I don't know if I will get accepted in to the program and may have to reapply.

Good luck with your courses everyone!

How do you get to the evolve modules in Patho?

How do you get to the evolve modules in Patho?

If you bought the book new, it comes with a code to access the evolve website and get in to the e-text version with quizes for each chapter. Very useful for tests! (Some are word for word test questions).

I need some encouragement...I will be completing all of my prerequisite this 2011 Fall at TCC....and will start at UTA on Spring 2012 to start on Pharmocology, Pathophysiology, and Intro to Nursing...I've taken the HESI and scored an 82%...I have a 3.5 GPA on my science courses and lower courses overall is 3.7...Do you think I have a chance to enter the Nursing program for Fall 2012???

ezwol I have a question...I am about to take Test 1 Tuesday and am curious about the drugs. Randomly throughout the modules she will mention various drugs. Are these the ones she tests over? There are several without a lot of info about them to fill in the drug templates so I have been finding out that info on my own. Is this how you went about learning it as well? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

Just put in my RN-BSN via academic partnership online for hopefully Jan-Feb start. Got just a few pre's I need for the BSN that I didn't need for the ADN. Hopefully, this school will fit the bill!

I tried to make a drug profile for every drug mentioned in the modules. So for instance if there was only one "slide" in the module then I went to the book and found out as much information from both and if there was information that I couldn't find then I just left that part of the template blank. I mostly focused on the information DIRECTLY given in the modules, that seem to help me the most when it came to the tests.

How's everyone doing in their classes??!! I am anxious to find out how I did on the 1st pharm test!! Ready for them to release the grade!! ;)

On other side note....my advisor did say when I emailed her last week about letters that they are "aiming" for mid Oct!!! Wow...may not be that much longer now!! :)
