UTA Spring 2012
That's the thing, my facilitator told me that they always had more spaces than applicants and that for spring they were adding even more....something is not right.

UTA Spring 2012
Texas Health Fort Worth...it is weird because I talked to the hospital contact for the APBSN a few months ago and she said that spaces were never filled. They always had extra spaces in that hospital. She even mentioned that Fort Worth was opening additional spaces for next semester. I've sent her several emails and still no response. Something smells "fishy" :)

FYI. Being partnered is NOT a plus. It seems this year they've made some changes. I am partnered and I am on the waiting list. At this point, I am not sure if even helps. I thought I had decent scores and I am still waiting to be called. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I keep reading post saying that it helps. In my case, I am on the same boat as everyone else...

I must say, I agree with all of you. I am a bit disappointed about the entire process. I am parterned and still on wait list. I was under the impression (told by my hospital) that as long as I met the criteria, it was automatic acceptance as long as enough spaces were available. I've emailed my hospital coordinator and have received no response. This is weird because in the past, when I asked something, I would get a reply in less than 24 hours. I am still waiting to know if all spaces have been filled in my hospital (at least on acceptance letters). I trully believe something happened. No info on wait list status or anything. They might be trying to cover up something

Judy---I am finishing Statistics and Texas Politics.

Now I have to admit, I dont know what they did. I am partnered and I was placed on the wait list. Science 3.4 and overall 3.55. HESI was a bit low (82) but still met the criteria. So I guess not everyone who is partnered is automatically in.

My struggle is not any of the Sciences. Is Statistics. Anyone taking that? I bombed the first test and now this class may prevent me from starting nursing school if I dont pass. Any tips?

Todd does not use questions from the previous exams. She may have 1 or two, but most questions are new ones. Use her blueprints and go back through all your online lectures. That's how I prepared. I got an A on my final.

Is not difficult but there is a lot of reading and work. History 2 was more work. Instead of replying to 3 post like in History 2, HIST 1 just requires 1 reply. Others may be done for extra credit. There are 15 units and you get a quiz for each unit. Quizzes are 6 questions but only 5 minutes to answer them. The class is NOT hard, just a lot of things to do. I did not even try and got an A with doing extra credit stuff.

A quick suggestion to those in Pharma...DO NOT FOCUS on the book. Focus on her lectures. You have to develop your critical thinking during test. The answers can not be found it just a quick "slide 4". Just like Tejas said: read/digest/retain. Learn your online lectures in/out and "SKIM" through the book. I know is hard through online classes, but find a study group and quiz each other. It helped me a lot when I took the class. As far as the final goes, well is comprehensive. What I did? Learned the online lectures, I had index card for the chapters and during that week, I took those index card wherever I go. Don't know what else to tell you. It was a tough one, but doable (as long as you understand how drugs work)

Public health vs. Nursing
I concur with the previous comment. Maybe I am not understanding your post, but you can be a public health nurse. I dont see a difference between Nursing and Public Health. Public Health is a specialty of Nursing.

If you bought the book new, it comes with a code to access the evolve website and get in to the e-text version with quizes for each chapter. Very useful for tests! (Some are word for word test questions).

Those classes need to be taken prior to start your upper division classes. These classes can be taken online, so as long as you have internet connection, you should be ok. Depending on the number of credits you already have, yes it may take you longer to be eligible to apply to the college of nursing.

Sorry for the multiple post. I just remembering things as I write. I dont think it was big on the first test, but in the following (once is gets more complicated), know the side effects (remember what I said how it works in the body?). She loves questions about "a pt is vomiting and you check the blood levels and the pt/inr is x.x. What is the cause?" Sometimes she might throw a "curve ball" and try to confuse you. Just stick to the basics (just like your ABC...which will teach you what is the most life threatening symptom). I truly liked the class. Hard as hell, but you will learn A LOT. I would love to have her again for a future pharmacology class.
