  1. @AVJK, my adviser told me your hesi score does not matter as long as you pass and that they don't use it for ranking. I wish UTA would inform their advisers correctly. It seems many students have conflicting information. Judy, are you taking pharm on campus? I am struggling so much in that class. I joined a study group out of desperation. Normally, I study alone because I can focus better. Hopefully, this study group helps me out a lot. I did not apply for the AP program since I did not have all my prereqs finished by the application due date.
  2. I was accepted into the traditional program. My overall gpa was a 3.7. My science gpa was a 4.0. I did not have any special considerations. Now, I only need to get through pharm... The professor I have is ridiculous... @SA423, Your Hesi score is not a factor, as long as you pass it. @Judy. I don't think that matters as long as you are enrolled in the classes and will complete them before nursing school starts. I am currently taking Intro, Patho, and Pharm. I will be finished with them in mid December.
  3. Congrats lad! My gpa's are similiar, so that does give me some hope. Did you meet any of the requirements for the special considerations? My last name starts with a 'W', so my letter will probably be one of the last ones mailed :/
  4. When I was told that you need a 3.5 gpa to be competitive, they did not specify whether it was the overall or science gpa. I assume they mean both.... Kaystarz, I share your pain about chemistry. I took the class during the summer also and the professor was horrible. I could barely understand his country accent and his lectures were so confusing. I failed the first test, freaked out, and hired a professional tutor. If I did not hire a tutor, I'm sure I would have failed that course. But thanks to her, I passed :)
  5. @ eldraper7- For the traditional program, I've been told that you need a 3.5 to be competitive.
  6. I'm taking all 3 of those courses now. Patho is easy for me, but Pharm is harder. Personally, I wished I could have taken Patho and Pharm separately, but my schedule did not allow it. If I could have taken them separately, I would have taken Patho and Intro during the Spring, that way I could build a foundation on diseases . Then I would take Pharm during the summer, and then learn about the various medications to treat those diseases. I think Pharm would have been easier for me if I took Patho first, because I would know more about the diseases and therefore better understand how the medications work to treat them. Intro is easy, but it is a pain. Patho and Pharm are more important, so I always forget about the homework and end up doing it last minute. Plus, we have to attend various events (a club meeting, a uta fun event, a work shop, a community service event) on our own time. Its like a freshmen orientation class.
  7. Tejas, I hope time flies also. I am getting anxious, especially since I don't have a back up plan. One of the advisers talked to my Intro to Nursing class a few days ago. She said they will be mailing the letters the first week of November. For the spring, 700 people applied to the online program and 500 to the campus based program. Last fall, 600 applied for the campus based program. She said that traditionally less people apply for the spring programs compared to the fall. She also said that you need a 3.5 to be competitive.
  8. Has anyone taken Pharm and Patho on compus at UTA? If so do you have any tips? Patho is completely based on tests and Pharm is based on quizzes and tests ( very intimidating!). There is so much pressure to make an A since I don't know if I will get accepted in to the program and may have to reapply. Good luck with your courses everyone!
  9. edit. i meant to write tests, not classes
  10. @ nikkibro. I will probably email my adviser everyday until she writes me back. lol. I hope I can get a hold of someone over the phone. I'm really freaking out, because classes start next Thursday and I will be out of town. I can't help that I have to register last minute, because my class ended Monday and grades were posted Tuesday.
  11. @ nikkibro. Not all courses require you to go to campus to take tests. I would email the professors if you can and ask if you do have to take the classes on campus. My Art professor, M. Azarhooshang, did not require us to go on campus to take the test. We were allowed to take open book exams at home.
  12. Is anyone having trouble contacting their adviser? How long does it usually take them to respond? I had to ask my adviser a question a couple weeks ago, so I emailed her, but she never emailed me back. I was finally able to get a hold of a very helpful lady over the phone though. I emailed my adviser yesterday so I could get clearance to register for Patho and Pharm, but she has not emailed me back or answered her phone. I was hoping I could get registered before Friday, because I am going out of town that day. I was hoping I could get this settled before the trip so I can actual enjoy it and not have to worry about registering. lol
  13. @ Nikkibro. If you want my opinion of the professors I took, let me know. I will be happy to let me you know.
  14. @ Nikkibro. Navarro College offers many of the prereqs online. I've taken Art, General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Texas Government online with that school. I made A's in all of those classes. The only catch was that I had to go to a campus to take the test and finals (for all of those classes exepmt Art). Most teachers I've had give you about 1-2 weeks to take the tests/finals. As long as you do all your work and don't procrastinate, you will do fine.
  15. @ tejas. So far, I have really enjoyed taking most of my prereqs at a community college. It is a lot closer to home, classes are smaller, and the professors know you by name. I admit I am intimidated by the fact that some of my classes at UTA will have more students than my high school class! I hope I will enjoy Patho as much as you did! I agree with you about the advisers being overwhelmed. Though, it is frustrating that UTA can't hire more advisers to help with the high volume of applicants.
