UTA Fall 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I thought I would start a thread for those applying to UTA for Fall 2013; AP or on-campus. I will be applying to both and am hoping to find a job at a partnered hospital before the January 5, 2012 deadline.

Yes.. If you know nothing about nursing, this book is essential. Plus, she has quiz questions regarding what you read and the videos you watch.

The classes are 350/ credit. We will only be able to take three course: Fundamentals, assessment, and health promotion, which total $4200. Now I haven't received information regarding all the equipment we need. Nor what hospital I'm going to be at in Houston. Looks like Brazosport will have 2 clinicals of 10 people if you look at the class offerings from your MyMavs.

Everyone that has been accepted to the FALL 2013 AP-BSN program... CONGRATS. I live in Houston, and it looks like only Brazosport will be offered as a clinical site. I looked at the class offerings for the Fall for Foundations, which unfortunately, for those that live in the city, have to travel an hour away for clinicals twice a week. Ugh!!! Where is the FB page people are talking about for our class this Fall. Everyone, study your PHARM!!!

I was gonna say... that's my game plan. Lol.

I also live in Houston - Kingwood area. Ugh, that sucks. I thought there was another clinical location offered in Pasadena.

is anyone as nervous as I am? Or anxious?

I'll throw this out there, to put things in perspective on the distance you have to travel to get to your clinical location...

I was told about someone in another cohort who lives in San Antonio and must drive to Dallas for their clinical location.

Someone in my cohort (until they were transferred to my clinical group) was driving from Dallas to Longview (2+ hours).

I drive from my home in Temple to Dallas for my rotation (2+ hours one way). I leave at 4am Saturday morning and drive for 2+ hours to get to the hospital so I am on time.

Just some perspective. Could be worse.

;)Pharm for your clinicals period. You don't want to be the lone ranger not knowing your drugs when a nurse asks you something about your patients medications. And I think we have to take a pharm test also sometime this semester. I'm just preparing just in case!!!

Good talk!

Dang! That is a drive. Looks like I'll be driving 1.5 hours if Lake Jackson is the only clinical location around Houston...
