Hi everyone, so i decided to go ahead and open up a forum for the 2018 spring start date. I know it might be early but hey everyone including me will have questions and become quite worried on getting in.
I'm applying, too. I still have a few of their pre-req's to finish (Chem, Intro to Nursing, Pharm, Patho). I'm still in classes, so my final GPA hasn't been calculated yet, but so far it's:
3.2 overall (old classes coming back to haunt me)
4.0 science
I took the HESI and scored:
Reading 94
Grammar 94
Vocab 98
Math 76 (cringe)
Overall 90.5
I'm applying for the AOBSN and I'm in San Antonio. This school is my second choice.
Good luck everyone!
It doesn't look good. Houston only has 20 spots, I had 2 considerations (previous Bachelor's and credits at UTA) and now I have completed Patho, Pharm, and Intro and was waitlisted. Houston is very hard if you are not partnered. My overall was a 3.869, and my science was a 3.75... Also my HESI was 94 average for UTA (they don't consider the score they only care that you met their minimum mark)
Where did you hear about 20 available spots? I would have thought there'd be more, but at this point I've come to the conclusion that I know very little about how any of these schools operate.

I have the list of hospital placements, each location has about 10 or so spots per semester. That is for both RN-BSN and ABSN, and they are adding a new spot for Spring. So, there will be 3 hospitals, about 30 spots or so. (I knew someone in the program)
There's a whole UTA subsection here, they may move this thread. I'm applying as well for Spring, both AO and on campus. I have 94.5 hesi, 3.6 science and roughly 3.6 overall. I don't feel great about my chances but I do have a couple of considerations and waiting to hear back on a position at a partner facility. Fingers crossed we all get great news in September!
Hey they don't care about which score! My science GPA is min and I overall GPA is 3.3. Do you think I have a chance with low GPAs?
HESI was fine, I went in and didn't study came out with a 92 overall, 94 average for UTA (they didn't want all the sections I took for another program). UTA only cares that you make a 75 in each section they request, they don't care about what the HESI score really is.
With low GPA's the only shot at getting in is honestly having multiple considerations. It is very competetive, thousands apply to their program. Also, take Patho and Pharm BEFORE you apply! Passing those with A's is a huge consideration! And try to get a job with a partner hospital, because that really helps too.
I'm debating on apply to the AOBSN program. I really want TWU but my overall gpa is a 3.4, not sure about my sciences but I got a C in A&P 1 and Chem. I still have mirco and a&p2 to take. I haven't take the TEAS or HESI yet, waiting until I finish these next two classes. I doubt I will get in but I will still apply and retake some classes to boost my GPA.
