UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

kimmy088....i was goign to ask the same question about what you guys are planning on wearing! also, i'm not extremely familiar with the medical center area (i'm from dallas and currently a student at A&M) and after the letter mentioning parking it made me a bit worried. does anyone have suggestions about parking?

I am planning on dressing as if for a job interview. As for parking I am planning on parking in the shuttle lot and taking the train.

They gave me an interview for wednesday the 23rd. Shame I don't have time to finish the courses they didn't give me credit for

Cyclical Events-

Its horrible they didnt accept your classes but I know you can take the history, english, govt and maybe chemistry. all online in a 3-10 week course at a Dallas County Community College. I am currently finishing up my Pre-reqs at DCCC and I know they offer history, english, and govt. classes starting as late as oct and finishing in december, well before UT classes start. The only class I am unsure of is Chemistry. You haven't mentioned if you are enrolled in classes for the Fall but if you have the time, I would definitely look into it.

Specializes in none as of yet, hoping for ped oncology!.

You could also park at the MD Anderson center parking garage, it's directly across the street from UT. It's a little pricey, but not too bad for only one day. I certainly wouldn't plan to do it regularly. That's what I did when I went for the information session. I paid like 5.50 for two hours. It's 12.00 for the entire day (like up to 10 hours or something). When classes start I plan to use the park 'n ride near my house.

To those who asked, I'm planning to wear a long skirt and blouse. Heels, but not too high. I tried to think job interview. I know some people have worn suits, but I don't own one, and I don't think I would be comfortable wearing one. I'm a student, not a lawyer.

i think you should dress professionally, clean and tidy and i saw a suggestion for closed toed shoes.

does anyone know what the writing sample is like?

Hmm...that sounds potentially doable. I'm gonna call on tuesday to see why they didn't take the courses. I really don't understand why they would accept me having taken allied health anatomy and physiology, but not the allied health chemistry lab. I'm already taking Intro to Organic and Biochemistry + lab, and the prospect of doing the basics again is ... off putting.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the Health Science Center in San Antonio, which is my first choice school. If I get in there, it will save me a lot of grief. I wish these schools would have better standardization in what's required for admission. It would save us all a lot of money and trouble.

I know at one interview session they gave the students a mock schedule for the first semester, including clinicals, etc and the writing sample was to write about how you would manage your time to get all your work and studying done.

I thought you had to have begining chem or above ... so if you are taking oganic and biochem you should be ok ... you should ask

If SanAn is your first choice, and they let you know before those classes start, I would def wait. But if you feel after your interview at UT Houston you have a good chance of getting in, then I would try and take those classes just so you can have a back up plan if SanAn doesnt work out.

Best Wishes!

congrats to all sho got hteir interview letters. Good luck. I am still waiting and hoping for mine

I called, explained the problem, waited for a few minutes while the lady I spoke to do something on the computer, and was told they would call me back later. Didn't get any feedback, so I'm hoping that means that it was some kind of error.
