UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

Specializes in none as of yet, hoping for ped oncology!.
I just received that letter today... I'm not sure at what point they send the letter, but I sent my transcript a while ago (almost 2 months ago) and they just recently posted the correct GPAs on utlink. it took forever!

Same here. I think they just got their ducks in a row this week.

Maybe we should all post just to inform others of when wer receive letters and other communications? I'm willing to do that if others are.

Does anyone have confirmation from UT Houston regarding the last day they will accept NET scores for the Spring 2010 App.? I think I saw someone post 9/15? I'm retaking it Friday but no one from the school has responded to my email regarding the last day they will accept scores. Thanks!

I think I've heard that date floating around somewhere. It was something about the fire alarm ringing and now they needed to allow the testers from that day retest...therefore UT houston set back their due date for the NET. does that sound right to everyone else?

UT will not accept any scores pat a test date of september 12th. I asked that via email and that is what their response was to me. The TEST DATE can NOT be past the 12th. Now however long it takes UT to recieve those results isnt the issue its the date of the test itself.

also has anyone heard of them not accepting repeated courses. On the UTMB chat room someone put that they heard that. I have never heard of that. For instance I took CHEM 9 yrs ago and made an F because I didnt know what a W was. I was 17 might I add, I just re-took that and made an A. Just wondering if anyone heard of that?

I've never heard of not accepting a repeated course. Has anyone else contacted UT about this?

Nowhere on their website does it say that they don't take repeated courses. If that is some inside information they are not sharing with the rest of the world...that sucks. I thought it was all about the GPA and making yourself more competitive. Hopefully that is not the case because I have some repeat courses that I made A's in.

Unfounded rumor. Of course they take repeated courses. I think you would have had to repeat that course anyway because it is so old. One thing they will do is, if you have a lot of repeated courses or Ws, is ask you to explain yourself in the interview. It's one of their criteria they use to narrow down candidates, like if you took A&P 4 times before you finally made an A, they will notice that. But you should be fine, just be aware and prepared to make an explanation if they ask.

OK I found documentation and recieved an email from UTMB. That is TRUE. Here is what I was told:

Thank you for your interest and application to our School of Nursing. Our baccalaureate admissions policy contains two statements regarding course repeats:

- No prerequisite course may be repeated more than once.

- No more than two of the prerequisite courses may be repeated.

Below is the link to our General Information catalog. The two statements above are on page 7 of the catalog, which is page 18 of the PDF document.

With regards to the student’s statement below, we do not consider D a passing grade.

If these policies are a concern for your application, you should make an appointment to speak with the Associate Dean of Admissions, Dr. Cuellar. Her assistant can be reached at 409-772-8307.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

So...................now I know this isnt total BS. I heard TWU has a poilcy similar which would probe me to bet that UT Houston does as well. I think its definately worth asking. Does anyone want to email UT or should I?

But they do accept repeated courses, just not if you repeat them multiple times. You are still doing ok with the chem class.

OK has anyone else's status on UTLINK changed to say "Pending status will be updated upon admissions committee decision." And if so, do you find that as exciting as me?

Yes but I also took ENGL 1302 back in H.S. and didnt do well and retook it and made an A. I just want to know EXACTKY what their policy is so there are no surprises. I am going to email them

CJ Barnes- Yes mine says that as well but I think it has for awhile....maybe I am dingy LOL but why is that good? Doesnt that just mean its in review?

Also my GPA updated...has anyone elses so we know what the pool is like?
