UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

Specializes in none as of yet, hoping for ped oncology!.
Do you know when we find out if we have been offered an interview?

They will begin sending out letters in mid-September and continue through the end of October. Interviews run through that same time period and into the first week of November.

Hi everyone! I too am a UT SON spring 2010 applicant. I know y'all have to be just as anxious as I am about these upcoming weeks. I was wondering if anyone here has been through the process before (or know someone else who has) and can give some insight into what the interviews are like and what they ask you to write about in the essay portion of the interview. Thanks! Good luck to everyone!

From various accounts on here and other threads (plus I have a friend who just graduated from this program) the interviews themselves are short, although go prepared to wait up to 4 hours on your turn. The last interviewees wrote a paragraph about the mock schedule they received, they were told to detail how they would manage their time in order to get everything done. My understanding, though, is that it will probably be someting different for us. Interviews are basic, like why do you want to be a nurse, why did you choose our program, etc.

just received my NET scores, I did the same for reading comp, I doubt I'll even get an interview

I took my net on August 24 and still did not get the results. ERI says they mailed it to the school but I did not get my copy. And they say they will not mail it to me again untill after 2weeks. Sorry I am just a little disturbed right now. It sucks not to know how I did. Any way good luck to everyone. Keep your chins up.

That is strange. I took mine on the same day (Richmond location) and received my scores the following Wednesday. The school has had the scores since the following Tuesday. At least it is not the other way around and it is the school that doesn't have the scores.:nono: Shame on ERI! I feel your frustration.

If you go to the website and look at the course catalog the prereqs will be there. I attended the orientation at Coleman in April. Their prereqs are comp 1, a and p 1 and 2, intro psych, micro and lifespan. Also all the sciences classes must have been taken within the last five years. They require the HESI and after all of this is complete you may be "invited" to take pharmacology which must be taken before the start of the program. Good luck hope all goes well.

Hung, I just retook the NET today via Pearsons Vue because UTHSC said they would accept scores as late as the 9/12 test. I called the registrars office to make sure there is nothing I have to do for them to use the new scores from today and they said no. They will automatically update the NET scores when they receive the new ones as long as the test was taken by 9/12. I feel your frustration with Reading Comp. I did MUCH better on the math portion today but got the same score on reading comp. At least the math brought up the composite substantially. Best of luck to you!

Thanks missmoe27. I hope you did well on yours. It is just hard to play the guessing game when everything was going smoothly so far.

Does anyone else feel like the waiting is the hardest part? :banghead:

I was at the retake on the 28th too. I did really bad on the reading comp as well and I'm so frustrated!!! Are you going to retake it again on the 12th?

I haven't seen anyone mention University of Houston - Victoria so I thought I'd mention it. They have an Accelerated BSN program at the branch campus in Sugar Land. The application deadline for Spring 2010 is November 1st I think. You have to have all your prereqs. completed when you apply or I would be applying today!

It's a 12 month program like UT's with the exact same prereq requirements except for the total completion part.
