UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

Also, the person who started the thread never came back to say how the interview went or anything. Most of the other responses are from folks who are starting at UT this fall, and so interviewed in the February - March timeframe.

CJBARNES- I am sure I am making a big deal of nothing, but that freaked me out. The summer session starts in May which is the RN-BSN program so they would have interview for that before May and they are claiming to have interviews in June so that wouldnt make sense. If they had applied for the Fall those took place back in March. Maybe they are full of it dont know? If you could still email them that would be great. Some girl at the NET test who applied Fall 09 said that hardly anyone was getting into UT for Spring 2010 because of The applicant from the fall whatever that means? So...when I read this I was like "oh hell no"..LOL. I will relax about it until I hear from what they say in response to your email.

Hung- good luck on retaking your NET. I re-took it today thru Pearson and they are the same exact reading passages as the first one just in a different order. I think the computer based test is way WAY better. I only missed one in Math but had a lower score in the reading than I would have liked so I will re-take it again. I am just anal and want the best score possible to get in so I will retake it until I am happy. Waste of time and money I know but I am an over achiever and now that I know the reading is the same it will be a breeze. Third time is a charm ;)

Hey everyone- Net Question!

OK I took the NET again through Pearson View which is computer based and you get your score right after you're done. I did great on the Main Idea Section and the Inference section. My weakness was outcomes. I am re-taking it and want to know what is your staregy in the "outcomes" section. For main idea and inference they come right out and tell you thats what they want but what would the wording of a question look like for "outcomes"? I have the ERI review book and I went off of that to determine what to look for in the passage but for some reason i didnt get that section of the reading. Any tips are welcome. I really appreciate it

I see, do they also have the science and writing sections too? And how long does it take for them to send the scores to UT? Im taking it the 24th and im afraid it won't come in on time. The reading passage on my NET test was about some early mankind dealing with microbial diseases and I forgot what the other one was about.

Yup the same everything! Pearson View told me it took a few days for it to get there. You should be fine. Did you pick that date or was that the only one available? What location are you taking it at? Yes that passage was on there again..one about the ear...one about nocturnal and diturnal people. Does that sound about right?

yeah that sounds about right, wish I could of remembered some of the questions lol. Anyways I called over the phone, because they give you more options , if you schedule online you only get like 2 options for August. Scheduled over the phone and they let you pick any date. Im taking it on the bellaire center august 24th at 6pm. Good luck on retaking it again!

I want to encourage everyone reading this who doesn't have a 4.0 gpa to apply to UTHSC SON. My science/nurs prereq's gpa is a 3.3 but I scored an 85 on the reading section of the NET and nailed the interview to be admitted to the Fall program. They look at all 3 of these things when making their decision.

ok here is the ut response to the questions about interviews. so i don't know what they are going on about on that other thread, but straight from the horse's mouth, interviews are not until september and october.

hello christina,

all interviews for the spring 2010 will take place in late september and early october. all letters of acceptance or denial will be mailed out on november 15th.

There are inteviews that were going on, but they were not for BSN students.

got my NET score back, lets just say I wouldn't even get an interview with those scores :crying2:, Im retaking it one last time, so hope I do better this next go round. :banghead:

Don't worry Hung, you'll do great this time I'm sure. At least you know what you're in for this go-round!

And you might be surprised what will get you an interview. If your GPA is good a 70 overall might do it!
