Unprofessional & Jealous!!!

Published

:uhoh3: O MY.... I AM VERY DISTURBED TO SEE HOW UNPROFESSIONAL A PHYSICIAN CAN BE TOWARDS CRNA's!!! I was browsing studentdoctor.net and came across this thread. The moderators over there didn't even say anthing regarding the language used by this physician or anything! I guess I'm just a little disappointed in the unprofessionalism on studentdoctor.net. I wonder if the moderators are jealous students or something. Check it out!!!!

You know, it's really funny to see the lack of objectivity here. There are threads on this board that are every bit as venomous as the couple from the SDN board that were listed at the start of this particular thread. When they get nasty, they should be closed, as that one was, and as several have been on this board. But let's not pretend that y'all are always taking the high road here and everyone at the "other board" is not. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Y'all go to an MD board and strut your stuff? Expect to get bashed. An MD (or god forbid an AA like me) comes to this board - they get bashed.

Excellent points.

I find our board more informative and frankly, interesting! Any physician worth anything eventually recognizes that his success is dependent on his skilled non doc partners in patient care. Ignore them, time will pass, they'll grow up.

I would encourage members here referring to SDN and other such sites not do so with the sole purpose of "stirring the pot" at this site. Such sites (like SDN) contain among their more heated or even "venomous" posts, a wealth of knowledge from which we can all learn something. I, too, am disappointed at the lack of objectivity among us as nurses regarding such issues. Try to go into any new situation, attempting to hear what others are saying, versus "looking for a fight", and we may actually learn something. Try not to let the opinions/editorials there that upset you get you so riled up. They are just those---opinions. Just like here.

Thank you.

I just finished reading all the posts here and at the "Student Doc" forum, and it seems to me that both groups are made up of individuals that are both proud of their own accomplishments and abilities, and of individuals who are jealous or misinformed of the other group. As so graciously stated by the "honorable" Rodney King, "Why can't we all just get along." :chuckle

I do encourage everyone to not go there starting crap though, especially about the post you are looking at. Thas is old news, I as well at JPP from SDN have moved on hopefully. If they are bashing and misinforming readers on crna issues then Im all about speaking up which I do no doubt. However I never start hate threads or start talking crap that isnt egged on. Doing so would only make us look like the poo poo starters.

The board is good though. I have learned so much about political issues as well as clinical issues there. Wish we could get more interesting posts here. So tired of reading please list "Grades, GPA, GRE scores ect"

I know people just want to see how their stats compare to rank themselves but their has to be 50million crna entrance stat threads on this board.

have a great night.

We won't have interesting posts here because we are, for the most part, people who are not as educated and as they. We will always lag behing in that aspect. Our knowledge is lacking and nurses are not known for being "on top of things" for the most part. Just my two cents.

ughh that site is inundated with residents and med students that's been nurse slapped one too many times. not all are like that though, alot on that site are, i mean really, if u wanna be enraged that's the place to go, alot of nurse bashing but alot of nice people also. nothing u can do, just take a deep breath and move on.

Jealousy is always based in insecurity. Obviously the docs (or students) feel threatened in some way. They're afraid of competition by practitioners with less schooling/investment after they've spent years going through medical school & residency -- but obviously CRNAs program provide safe/excellent care, so docs will just have to deal with it.

I've met many docs like this in real life -- it's scary how immature many physicians are as people. Some of them have zero social skills & have never really grown up as individuals -- that's why I think medical programs should consider "life experiences" & personal depth/character of med school candidates in the application process. I would want a well-rounded individual to provide my healthcare services since care is based on a relationship of trust, rather than someone who has geared all of their experiences towards becoming "competitive" for med school (ex. choosing volunteer or work experiences only to strengthen the application process, not b/c they really care for human beings & want to develop themselves compassionately as individuals; spending all their time studying, not living).

Economics (insurance) supports cheaper services -- thus, nurses (who also often have excellent people skills & training that focuses on "compassionate, safe care") are competing effectively! We offer some of the same services (of equal quality, sometimes better) for a cheaper price.

Wanted to also quickly state that I have met some WONDERFUL docs. The whole gamut is out there, and I've worked with a wide range of personality and skill levels (as have most nurses). I also have an excellent family practice doc that served as my OB & now my pediatrician -- I chose him over a nurse midwife b/c he's so knowledgable & compassionate. I'm not bashing docs. Just wanted to further elaborate on the issue that the OP brought up, and post my 2 cents worth...

Excuse me,

The vast majority of the nurses I have met on this forum are educated individuals with very intelligent things to say. From what one nurse one stated, many of the discussions on their forum are at about Jr. High level in terms of maturity and intellectual insight.

I managed to gain acceptance into a renowned women's college in West Los Angeles, which is nothing to sneer at. I start this fall, and will be recieving a top-notch education. By the time I finish and begin working as a nurse, I, like other nurses, will have valuable knowledge to share.

And FYI...I'm always on top of things, and learning something new.

I am proud of my accomplishments, and will continue to better myself.

I work with nurses from Duke University, Johns Hopkins, U of Pennsylvania, Yale, U of NC, U of Washington, etc... All excellent colleges from which to obtain an undergraduate degree. Nothing to sneer at. Some nurses have undergraduate educations superior to medical students/docs, and many nurses have multiple degrees. However, medical school offers an advanced degree (ie. "Doctor of Medicine") beyond even a Master's (which is what CRNAs & NPs have), so it is true that they have more education than most nurses. This does not always translate to better care for the healthcare consumer, however.

I'm not claiming that nurses have more education than they do, only that nurses ARE educated, and have intelligent things to say. Nurses provide valuable insight. Nurses, like yourself, deserve more credit for their education and knowledge. I'm always hearing nurses bashed for their "lack of education." This bashing is unfounded.

I don't visit that student doc site... from what I've heard, it would only serve to tick me off. Why do nurses go there? I never see any MDs posting here. Besides, that site isn't for us. What's the point of going there? To rattle some cages?

This isn't doc bashing, either. I love my family practice doc, and happen to be very fond of the surgeon who enlarged my breasts. Both wonderful men...can't imagine either of them participating in such a hateful thread.
