  1. Community Colleges in Alabama (and most other states as well) are mandated by law to admit all students with a diploma or GED. They use admission tests like the Compass to stream line students into appropriate level Math and English courses.
  2. Here is a novel thought.........how about your paycheck. If people are so miserable- then quit. Sounds like kids at Christmas......."I only got underwear and socks from Grandma."
  3. Here is a novel idea..........how about your paycheck. Last I remember, this is a free country, if you are so miserable why not quit. This thread sounds kinda like kids at Christmas......"I got stinking underwear and socks again from Grandma."
  4. Your case has been reviewed by Admin. Moderation time has been reduced to 2 weeks, ending 4/19/06 0200 hrs. Warning points reduced from 40% to 20% which will last for 60 days. If you should have questions/concerns, you may contact Thunderwolf. I don't think that "people across America" are as stupid as you portray them. Oh, but then again they did vote for Bill Clinton twice.:chair:
  5. Yes, but Anthony Jr. is primed to take over as the Don. I hope people don't believe that all Italians named Tony are Mafia.
  6. Charmed; 24; the Sopranos; Law and Order; House; Grey's Anatomy I doubt that most of America believes witches are keeping us safe, Kiefer is a real "G-Man", Tony really is going to die before the next season, ALL good doctors have the bedside manner of House, or that ALL nurses have an STD.
  7. here is a little secret for everyone..........it's a fictional television show!!
  8. I am 39+ and just got accepted to the RN Program for this Fall! The toughest part for me is trying to hold conversations with students who don't remember Reagan or the Challenger or are too young to drink- depressing sometimes.
  9. I can only speak for myself. To me diabetes is a condition like my hearing (fair) or my vision (wore glasses until lasik). It is a part of who I am, I control it-it does not control me. I check my sugar and take my insulin and exercise and diet accordingly and I could care less about the ADA personally. I believe whole-heartedly in the ADA if it is right for you and your situation, but it has never been a need or crutch for me (and I consider it a crutch personally not to anyone else). My diabetes affected my military career, and for that I am sorry (should be with my men in Iraq), but I have never let it get me down. If an employer wanted to fire me for diabetes or anything else- so be it, and he/she could kiss my a**. I am too valuable to me and my family to let that get me down, and would go elsewhere to work.
  10. Pet Peeve #7- Being diabetic is a health condition, NOT A DISABILITY! I can do anything you can do (usually) and somethings even better- I just have to monitor my diabetes.
  11. Excellent advice. May I add, whenever you are leaving a phone message/recording, always begin with your name and phone number, then end with your name and phone number again. This eliminates mistakes when messages are chopped at the beginning or ending of the recording. When I was working- and getting 75-100 voicemails a day, nothing irritated me more than to get a well qualified individual with a very professional recording- but an incomplete phone number....... Good luck with the job hunting.
  12. I find it utterly ridiculous to get Mad (Cow Disease) over a fictional movie that is produced for entertainment.
  13. What I am opposed to, is misrepresentation of the "Right to Work" quagmire. Pay is great- compared to cost of living, and as far as job security- I don't see the mass layoffs everytime there is a change of administration/management. I just believe that I have the right to speak to whomever I want to when I want to, and don't need to get permission from BillyBob down the hall, just because he is the current shop steward. I believe that we will never solve this debate. If you want to sell your right to be heard as an individual, then that is your right. I for one will NEVER join a union, and would actively oppose one wherever I can- including working at a striking hospital.
  14. So, when the majority of America wanted slavery- that was ok? When most of America wanted Segregation- blacks just had to "suck it up"? The majority of America is against gay marriage- should gays be forced to move to Canada? How about if 51% of America voted to abolish abortion- is that too ok? Think about that assertion, sometimes the majority is NOT entitled to "their way or the highway."
  15. So, if I am at a hospital that 51% of the nurses vote a union in, and the contract requires all nurses to either join the union or pay a service fee to the union, my choices are join the party or find another hospital? Well, why not tell the nurses that want a union to leave? Both are unacceptable in my book.
