University of Texas at Arlington Fall 2020 Cohort

Hello Everyone!!

It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?

I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.

I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

Hey so does anyone know how to sign up for the UTA insurance. It is pretty confusing as to how to sign up. I have health insurance right now but it ends on Aug 25 when we start nursing school. I was looking at the enrollment site and it says health students are already enrolled. However I noticed on previous posts someone said we are not we have to enroll if we want it.

yeah we have to enroll it. I spoke to them a few times but didn't ask for the procedure, just ask them about the 1 year coverage..one does it starts etc

I just called the enrollment number. Then enrollment period opens today. However their office hours our 9-5. So yeah these people should be able to help me out.

I see that in order to enroll for the health insurance you have to prove that you are enrolled in classes for next semester...How s that gonna work?Has anybody enrolled for classes? Do we enroll or it s automatically for every student accepted in the program and they all follow the same plan????

I got a response from an email I sent inquiring about the UTA health insurance. Below is what they sent me:

Good afternoon,

All Health Institutions and medical students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan at registration unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished. All fee paying undergraduate students at UT System taking at least seven (7) credit hours each semester, are eligible to enroll in SHIP. All fee paying graduate students enrolled in at least four (4) credit hours each semester, are eligible to enroll in SHIP. https://uta.myahpcare.com/enrollment

This has of course led to more questions. So we are supposed to turn in insurance documentation on June 19 proving we have insurance for the Fall however I have not registered for classes yet. I was under the impression we will be registering sometime after orientation July 22. Hmm, I have the same question that George posed earlier. Has anyone already registered for the Fall?

I wasnt able to register just yet. I tried to register but was not able to. So I sent an email to the prelicensure nursing advisors asking about registration dates and the UTA health insurance. I will let you know what they tell me.

For anybody who wants to register for the UTA health insurance call the customer service line and they will walk you through the process. Right now they are having technical issues with enrolling for the entire year. You can enroll for the Fall semester right now. They told me that you can enroll each semester and that the total price at the end of the year is the same as the annual. They will be able to send you a letter of coverage after it is purchased which can be uploaded into inplace to document your proof of coverage. Don't email the UTA health insurance because they will tell you that you will enroll only when registered for classes. If you call the customer service they will walk you through the process and get you enrolled immediately. The customer service number is 1-855-247-7587.

yeah but miss Ashleigh Johnson told me she needs a insurance uploaded for at least 1 year and the for the fall semester 2021 when it comes to that. She said they won't accept just ins just for Fall20

that s the email I just got from them...no more a whole year plan...another way way to rip students off. A year plan eas $2700, 1 semester is $1700, so Fall, Spring and Summer will be close to $4000

So what’s the alternative? No insurance and not be in the program? Go online again to the government site and find something.

Alternative is buy just for Fall 2020 for $1700 and the next semester buy for Spring and Summer 2021 fro another 2000, no more annual plans
