University of Texas at Arlington Fall 2020 Cohort

Published

Hello Everyone!!

It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?

I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.

I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

so we can get it anywehere?

Yes as long as it is bls and CPR certified

well I am afraid of scammers ...years ago I had t get an OSHA certificate and a lot of people in the class paid to some bogus companies online, took a class, got a card but it turned out that the issuing agency wasnt approved by the state...Same here.I see providers having courses for BLS this week and next week here in my art of town....IDK if they are legit though

Well the one I am doing is legit

I read somewhere that it has to be through american heart association. I don't remember where I read that from but I'll try to find it

As long as it is certified through them, it’s good.

is anybody buying a health insurance just for the program? If so how do you chose the length of the policy? Miss ------------ just told me that the insurance has to show coverage till end of the program which is fall of 21 IF you dont take any breaks or repeat any classes OR you won't be clinically compliant. I didn't even know you can buy an insurance for such an odd number of months ....

I'm in the same position. I am trying to get cheap health insurance, so I'll see how that works. UTA health insurance is pretty expensive to someone like me who usually never buys insurance.

I have been using insurance though the healthcare market place for over two years now. Blue cross of texas. I’m only paying about $50 a month

how did you qualify for that thing? Are there income requirements - such as making under poverty line etc?

Btw guys, I looked up BLS classes providers directly through AHA and I am taking a class tomorrow right in my area...2 mi away from me

the UTA one is through Blue cross blue shield and runs you around $250 a month but it s a real insurance. I found cheaper ones but they barely cover anything...mostly a certain amount towards some major things, and deductibles of 10K

They have to be approved by the American Heart Association. And you can only do the actual class online. You have to go test and do the skills check off in person.
