University of Texas at Arlington Fall 2020 Cohort

Published

Hello Everyone!!

It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?

I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.

I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

I am lucky then. I was previously accepted to an ADN program and I have done everything...except they didn't require the Hep A so I got that started last month. I even have my blue card already and everything!

Sounds good.

Don’t listen to 3/4 of the people on here. Anything above 7.5 for both on campus and AO will get you a great shot at being accepted.

It will give him a decent shot, it is competitive, but depending on the area you are applying - there are a lot of students with 8+ ...my last semester I was 8.6, mow I m higher....

Did you not get in with an 8.6?!

And you’re saying with an 8.6 you did not get in?And you’re saying with an 8.6 you did not get in?

I think what he is trying to say is whether or not a specific score is competitive or not entirely depends on the population that is applying. Since their is no way for us to know what the average GPA is for a given specific appication cycle we should just apply and hope for the best. However I have heard that the Fall application season does tend to be on average more competive since the application pool is larger.

How long did it take y’all to get y’all’s Texas BON Blue Card after fingerprinting?

I'm still waiting on mine. I had my fingerprints scanned in mid February.

I got an email today saying

If you are accepted to the upper-division nursing program, Texas Board of Nursing criminal background check results and immunization documentation are due at that time. The acceptance email will provide details on submitting your CBC and immunization documentation. Failure to provide this documentation will result in you forfeiting your seat in the upper-division nursing courses.

Sooo if we don’t have our blue card by March 6ish, what are we supposed to do ?

I read somewhere that we had until March 1 to actually get the fingerprints submited but until June 1 to actually get a blue card or declatory order. I dont have time to look for that info right now since I'm studying for a pharm test but I will look it up tommorow since that would definately effect me as well. I want to say I read that on the upper division application itself or the UTA website pamphlets describing the program. I got my vaccinations done though. ?

I did, but missed
Hep A immunization period ( or whichever was 6 months from 1st shot to last), but I was still very anxious. do the math - there like what 8-10 different oactions for the state just for UTA AO BSN and roughly 180- 220 students accepted each semester - that makes an average of 20-30 student being accepted per site ( I assume is equal). If you get to many with 3 considerations and a decent GPA, plus the ones partnered with hospitals - there s always a risk even with score of 8. That s how I feel about that.

It was like 6 weeks I think. Usually the department at school asks you to submit documentation by end of month, which would be March. If you are out of time need to talk head of student affairs - Dr.Flores or somebody...she knows a lot. when I was told by immunizations that I am not allowed to do fast track immunization for the Hepatitis ( the one that takes 6 months), she said that I WAS ALLOWED to go to a private hospital and do that. It is not the best option but in my case I would ve had id done on time, cuz the fast track takes only 2 months.

It is very important who gives you the information, some of the people in the admin have no clue what is going on and won't care to spent the time to research it.
