university of phoenix

Hello everyone!

I would like to know if anyone has any information about the RN to BSN program at the University of Phoenix. They have an online program and I am very interested in attending. Has anyone had a good experience or a bad experience with them? Do you actually learn for the money you have to pay?? I would appreciate any information. Thank you!

Bukko - I can answer your question I think. I'm finishing the ADN to BSN May 19th with UofP and yes, indeed it is just like any BSN! I have not had anyone comment except to say, "wow, you must be very motivated to do it online." I've had no problems whatsoever. Besides, honestly, who asks what school you went to? Most of the times, its just the BSN that counts - at least in my experience. I'm going right into the MSN program and again have heard only positive comments.

I got my MBA from them in 1986 and I have never had one bit of trouble with getting it from there. Actually, the MBAs back then form UOP, were much sharper than many others back from that time. Much better at problem solving, etc. One reason that I got to be where I am today........

Wish all of you the best of luck with the program.

I am seriously thinking of beginning my doctorate with them this fall.

Would have done it a long time ago if they had one available, and now they do.

U of P has an excellent reputation. They also have a permanent campus and satellite campuses in different states so they are well known (and popular).

I've read the positive posts here about UoP, and that's reassuring. I had a cousin who got her MS online, and she loved the program. I have one question no one has answered, though -- do employers take a University of Phoenix degree seriously?

Does anyone know whether people with the power to hire will regard UoP sheepskin as the equivalent of paperwork from a mail-order diploma mill? I've written to the Human Resources department at my hospital and the state nurses's union, but no one has responded.

It's not cheap -- more than $20,000 and two years' work. There's a top-notch university nursing school literally on the other side of the hill I live on in San Francisco, which is Option 2.

I've got a lot of time on my hands because I had a bicycle accident while riding to work earlier this month and broke my left hip. While I'm on non-weightbearing status for the next two months, I might as well start working on something to improve my life...

I have not heard this, but would advise you to contact them directly. They are starting new programs right and left. Good luck...judi

At the online level, we discontinued that program. It was a joint venture with another University. We had positive feedback for our portion, but not so good feedback from the portion of the program. I don't believe it's available at the ground campus' either. You would have to call your local ground campus to find out.

Will they be getting the program back? A coworker started at Axia in the healthcare administration program and was told that she would be able to obtain her BSN through UoP and sit the RN Boards. She just started with Axia, she is in her fourth week, so this information she received is fairly current. She was told that when she graduates in 20 months with her associates she will be able to go into a nursing program. I don't know the validity of those statements but I just enrolled with Axia yesterday, and as an LPN I would be interested in finding out if this is indeed true.:D
