Welcome! I wanted to have a place where everyone accepted into University of Miami's Accelerated BSN program (May 2010) could introduce themselves. I am very exited about this opportunity and a bit nervous. I have not even seen the campus yet and have been to Miami only once in my life. I grew up in Cali so I am sure I will love it! Anyone know what they are going to do for housing? What's everyones background? I cant wait!
Hi ALM2010, Katie4,
I started a new thread for our specific class: University of Miami Accelerated BSN Fall 2010 start. Hopefully we'll be hearing from more of our future classmates soon.
JoeNurse, keep us posted if you hear anything!

Hello everyone,
I agree Jetta, I am nervous and excited about getting my life started! I will be starting the Accelerated BSN program this May 2010 as well. :) So much to do (housing, paperwork), so little time. Yet i'm still grateful to be given this opportunity to finally begin nursing school!
Greetings All, I just noticed that our class schedule is up.....wow we really have an intense schedule...NOW I'm nervous! I'm commuting from Broward also so if anyone is interested in carpooling just email me at [email protected].... Thanks and see you soon!
Hi everyone, if you want to see the courses offered for the summer go to your myUM log on station and once you're in go over to the 3rd far right column 2nd box down states "general information" view um course offerings then put in nursing and summer 2010 enter you will see all the courses that we are taking....one word "intense."
Hey Guys,
I'll be joining you this fall 2010 for the accelerated program. I have a question regarding financial aid. Did you guys get awards in forms of loans and enough to cover the whole tuition, or did you all have to apply for private loans? I would appreciate if anyone can assist me on this.
I've heard the program is amazing. The professors are really great (from what I hear) and you get plenty of clinical time.. Clinicals are 2 days a week, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the first semester. Of course we need to cram a lot in, but the way that they teach you supposedly caters exactly to the NCLEX/HESI exams. As for financial aid, it sounds like most people are having to take out additional private loans to pay for costs...it's so expensive!! Looking forward to meet all of you in less than a month!
And as for living...I just moved down last week and am living in downtown Miami and absolutely love it! It's a great location and is right across the street from the bay. There are a few other students living right around my apartment also. Others are living in Brickell but it's more expensive, and I think a few are living in South Miami. Let me know if you have any other questions, I can try to help!
I have applied for may 2011. Thank you everyone in the 2010 class for sharing your enthusiasm, anxiety, and the caring bond that drives us all to nursing. If anyone would like to share their experiences with the next generation I'm sure it would be much appreciated. Nick from Connecticut.

Thanks! I'll definitely be getting a hold of you as things come up.
I haven't received anything from the school of nursing yet. I gave them a call last week and was told that they weren't going to deal with the fall class until after March 1st.
