University of Miami Accelerated BSN - Class of 2011

Published

Welcome! I wanted to have a place where everyone accepted into University of Miami's Accelerated BSN program (May 2010) could introduce themselves. I am very exited about this opportunity and a bit nervous. I have not even seen the campus yet and have been to Miami only once in my life. I grew up in Cali so I am sure I will love it! Anyone know what they are going to do for housing? What's everyones background? I cant wait!

Congrats to everyone who was already accepted! Just wondering if anyone has gotten accepted to the Accelerated BSN for the Fall 2010 start date yet? I applied in November and have not heard from them, but maybe it is still too early (as they are still accepting people for the May '10 start)? Anyways, it would be great to know if anyone who applied for the Fall semester has heard anything from UM :)

Hey Katie4,

I just got my acceptance letter today for the Fall 2010 Accelerated BSN Program. Good Luck!! :)

Hey ALM2010,

When did you apply? I am from New York and I traveled down to Miami yesterday where I had a meeting with Ms. Cabrera and where I got to see the facilities. She told me she was going to submit my application yesterday to the admissions committee since my file was ready for review. How long did it take in your case to get accepted? Thanks.

Wait, I thought that the Accelerated BSN program at UM only started in May. They have a class starting in the fall as well? That is good news.

My file was completed in December and submitted to admissions at that time. I was really suprised to see my acceptance this early. I thought I wouldn't hear anything until may/june. From reading other posts it sounds like I was in the early admission group. But I am still waiting for more information to be sent to me. Good Luck :)

Yes...they have a Summer class and Fall class. The only problem is you can only apply once a year. If you don't get into the Summer class you have to wait a year to apply agian.

Hi ALM2010,

I just got my acceptance letter today for fall 2010 as well! Are you planning on enrolling?

Yes I am...how about you? Did you get any information from the School of Nursing yet?

Hey ALM2010 and Bubbles125,

I just got my acceptance letter today! So we will be classmates in the fall!! I am so excited! Are you both from the Miami area? I'm from Chicago, so it's definitely going to be a change to move to a brand new city, and I'm a little nervous about it...but this forum definitely helps to get info on where to live and everything! I have a question for the people who already live in Miami, do we need a car to get around the city? Where I live now I don't need a car, as it's possible to walk/bike and take public transportation everywhere, I've heard Miami is more of a driving city, so does everyone think its really necessary to have a car? I can't wait for us all to start the program!! :yeah: And, if anyone is looking for a roommate starting is August let me know! hehe

Oh, and good luck Joenurse, hopefully you will find out soon!

ALM2010 and Katie4: How exciting! Yes, I am definitely going. I'm from LA so I'll also be making a big move. I'm also looking for a roommate! I actually attended UM for a summer program back in high school and while I hear that a lot of students use public transportation, having a car really makes a difference. Katie4, are you planning on visiting before moving out there?

Katie4 and Bubbles125:

I currently live in south Miami and have for about 1 1/2 years. So if I can be of any help let me know. I have never used the public transportation so I am not sure if you would need a car or not...I think it will depend on where you live compared to the campus and where the clinicals will be.

What was in your acceptance letter? Have you received anything from the school of nursing?
