University of Miami Accelerated BSN - Class of 2011

Welcome! I wanted to have a place where everyone accepted into University of Miami's Accelerated BSN program (May 2010) could introduce themselves. I am very exited about this opportunity and a bit nervous. I have not even seen the campus yet and have been to Miami only once in my life. I grew up in Cali so I am sure I will love it! Anyone know what they are going to do for housing? What's everyones background? I cant wait!

I am applying for the May 2011 start date and have a couple of questions......

Have you seen any single parents in the program who relocated from out-of-state?

I ask b/c I want my son to be with me and I don't want to leave him for 12mths. Any advice would be appreciated.

I also applied to UM's Accelerated program. I'm not a single mom but my husband is overseas and I need to take my child too. I was wondering about the program and clinical hours too. If you hear anything, please let me know. I also added you as a friend.

I was accepted for May, but I deferred my enrollment to see if I got into a public program before spending $40k on tuition. I've spoken to a few of the students who started this semester, though, and they said classes are all day (morning and afternoon) Mon-Wed plus a day of clinicals each week. Everyone has said the program is extremely demanding. You'll definitely need an all-day daycare if your child isn't in school.
