Welcome! I wanted to have a place where everyone accepted into University of Miami's accelerated BSN program (May 2010) could introduce themselves. I am very exited about this opportunity and a bit nervous. I have not even seen the campus yet and have been to Miami only once in my life. I grew up in Cali so I am sure I will love it! Anyone know what they are going to do for housing? What's everyones background? I cant wait!

I got in for May 2010 also! I'm incredibly excited about it. I'm in the same boat as you are. I'm coming from Michigan and have been to Miami once in my life and can't remember a thing about it. As for housing - NO idea! I've been reading a few threads on here trying to find out good places to live, but hopefully we can talk to someone who knows the area. Are you going to apply for the full ride scholarship?? Congrats on getting in!

Hi! My name is Kim and I too got accepted for May 2010. I am very excited and a bit nervous myself. I live in south Florida so if I can be of help to anyone that is not local please do not hesitate to ask. I think that this forum is a great way for us to get to know each other. We are definately going to need each other when classes start for support and study groups. =)

Hello, my name is Veronica. I applied to the Accelerated program beginning 5/2010; however I haven't received a response. When did you guys find out that you have been accepted? Admissions is telling me that I have to wait for the letter which will be sent sometime in December. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi Veronica. I found out at the beginning of November, but I also applied over the summer so my acceptance was during early decision. If you applied after that for the Dec. 1st deadline you will know soon. I hope this helps. =)
Good luck! I hope are part of our class.
Kim
Thanks Kim!
I hope so too!
Kim, I could definitely use your help with something. I currently live in Michigan and have never been to Miami before, so I'm having a pretty hard time looking for housing. I'm planning on taking a trip down in January or February, but would like to have a few places to look at. All the reviews I read online make all the apartments sound horrible! Do you have any advice on good apartments that are relatively close to school and not too expensive? Any advice is greatly appreciated :) Looking forward to meeting you soon! My name is Kindy by the way. Congrats on your acceptance!
Hi everyone!
Just received my acceptance letter today! I am so excited! Still can't believe it! I also live in Miami, so I could give you some insight on the area if you need it. Congratulations everyone and I look forward to meeting all of you!
Congrats on your acceptance! That's awesome, I'm excited to start :) I could definitely use your help with finding housing! My boyfriend will be going to Saint Thomas University in Miami Gardens (which I heard was about 30 minutes away?), so I would really like to try to find somewhere between the two that's still somewhat close to campus. Any advice is appreciated, thanks! And congrats again! :)

Hey guys! I'm Joel, and I was accepted to May 2010 class as well. Just think in 16 months we'll be graduates together. Look me up on Facebook, I started a group "University of Miami School of Nursing Summer 2010 Cohort" It's easier than the forums and we can all learn more about each other. I graduated from Univ. of Florida in Dec 2004 at the age of 20 so had no clue what I wanted to do and have been teaching middle school math/science ever since. I always wanted to be in the medical field, just didn't act on it until a year ago. I live in Miami and have a nice quaint home, but know lots of great places to live. Brickell is a nice area, looking for roommates might be helpful. Brickell is right near the metrorail which drops you off right in front of campus and most of the clinical hospital sites. Coral Gables is nice, and also the Dadeland/South Miami is close by. I hope to see you on facebook and congrats. My partner is currently in the semester before us accelerated BSN and its a ton of work. But, i'm ready!
Hi Joel,
Congratulations on your acceptance, I will definitely look you up on Facebook. I agree, Brickell is a great area, and so is Dadeland. Kindy, you definitely want to live somewhere close to the public transportation system, and all the places that Joel mentioned below are all great for this. I'm counting down the days, I can't wait to start the program!
Joel, it's great that you already know someone that is doing the program, I'm sure you will be able to help answer alot of the questions that some of us have in regards to the program. Do you happen to know what the schedule is like? Again everyone congratulations, can't wait to meet all of you!

Hi guys,
I guess I might be the new addition to the Class of 2011 because I just got my acceptance letter for the Accelerated Program as well. A quick question has anyone figured out their housing situation because I don't know what I'm going to do yet about that but I think I'm gonna drive down there to look at some places. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Congrats again to everyone
