  1. Hi Veronica. I found out at the beginning of November, but I also applied over the summer so my acceptance was during early decision. If you applied after that for the Dec. 1st deadline you will know soon. I hope this helps. =) Good luck! I hope are part of our class. Kim
  2. Hi! My name is Kim and I too got accepted for May 2010. I am very excited and a bit nervous myself. I live in south Florida so if I can be of help to anyone that is not local please do not hesitate to ask. I think that this forum is a great way for us to get to know each other. We are definately going to need each other when classes start for support and study groups. =)
  3. Good morning. Thank you for your reply. You will see me in May. I am going to accept their invitation to UM. I know we are in for a wild ride, but I am in the ideal situation to go for it. Hopefully with the support of each other we will be a great success. =) Do you live in Miami?
  4. Hi Mvaz003. I am 90% sure I am going to accept the invitation to UM's accelerated program. It is a 12 month program that is extremely intense, but I have a supportive husband and no children so I am in the best situation to go for it. Wish me luck! =)
  5. Hi starmickey03. I can understand your hesitation with 2 children. I do not have any children. Fortunately, I have a supportive husband, friends and family. I am probably going to go the accelerated route because I know I can handle it as long as I dedicate my life to it and I would be able to start working sooner. I got into both schools with a 3.5 GPA, but have a 4.0 in my sciences. Nova also has an essay and interview process, which weighs heavily on their decision. Since you are not from the area, FIU (Florida Int'l Univ) also has a good nursing program, but I believe it is a little more competetive than UM because it is less expensive. What ever you decide, I wish you the best. I have lived in south FL my entire life and love every minute of our weather. =)
  6. Hello all. I submitted my application over the summer for Jan 2010 entry. I received a call on October 5th for my interview on October 7th. Be prepared to be there for a couple of hours. You will begin with writing a quick essay, then watch a short video, take a tour of the campus and then the interviews take place. The interview process really is not that bad. Try to relax and answer their questions the best you can. A professor and a past student did the interviewing. They will ask you about 10 questions. At the end of your interview you will have a chance to ask questions, definately have one to ask. I received my acceptance letter this week, but I'm in limbo between Nova & UM. I wish you all the best of luck. Hope this helps.
  7. Thank you. My interview was October 7th. I received my letter from Nova this Saturday. Stay patient and positive. =) I am personally very conflicted on which school to choose. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight.
  8. I would really appreciate feedback from anyone who can provide some insight. I am honored and excited that I have been accepted into 2 excellent nursing programs for 2010. The schools are Nova Southeastern University (BSN, 27 month program) and the University of Miami (accelerated BSN, 12 months). I am not sure which one to choose, but I have to decide by Nov 15th. I find the UM program appealing because I would be done much sooner, but I know that faster is not always better. My concern would be that I would be doing a lot of cramming and not necessarily obsorbing the information. As for Nova, they have a very good program and are family oriented. I have RN friends in the field that work with Nova students and tell me that they are very knowledgable. I welcome your opinions!! Thanks
  9. I submitted my application and letters of recommendations including the one from the dean over the summer. I was told I wouldn't know anything until Feb so I was completely shocked when I got my letter yesterday. My GPA is 3.5. My advise would be not wait for a deadline. When you have your information ready and your prereqs send your application. Good luck!
  10. Hi. I hope you are all doing well in your courses. I was hoping to get some feedback from someone who is currently in or recently graduated from the accelerated BSN program. I have been accepted into UM for ABSN program for May 2010. I also got accepted into Nova's BSN program. I am having a hard time deciding which one to choose. If you had to do it all over again, would you have chosen the accelerated route again and the regular BSN?
