University of Miami ABSN Summer 2018

Published

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami to start in May 2018? I am just finishing up my application now and hoping to submit it in a week or two. I'd like to connect to some others also applying!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Specializes in Perinatal.

Congratulations to all who received an offer for admission! Can anyone tell me how quickly after you submitted the application were you notified of admission? It's only been a week since the deadline but I'm curious if it will take a full four weeks.

From the responses of people on this thread, it seems like it takes a while. I've seen comments from people who submitted back in December and just got confirmed. I submitted my application 3 weeks ago about a week before the deadline. Still says imcomplete.

They seem to be putting out their decisions in waves. I applied on New Years Day and received my decision on Feb 6th, so that would be about 4 weeks.

From the looks of it, it seems like they have currently been accepting a lot of out of state students. For me personally, I do live in Miami and finished/submitted my application to the program on the 13th of December. My status on canelink is still incomplete, but have been fully verified on nursingcas for quite some time. I am trying to patiently wait but can't help myself to checking several times a day. If only I knew what was going on.

Hi there! I am on the same page as you are. I applied around the same time and also have incomplete. I called this morning and was told that it does not mean anything except that a decision has not been made yet.

For now yes... we must wait. I know it's hard; I KNOW!!! Hopefully we hear good news soon.

Good luck to you friend!

My canelink status has been complete for a little over 3 weeks now. I have called a few times to verify my transcripts and I have asked if a decision has been made since my status is complete and they told me they are actively reviewing my application and a decision has not been made. The wait is killing me!!

We are in the same boat! Mine updated to "complete" 3 weeks ago as well. I called today and she said the status has nothing to do with whether or not a decision has been made. I think there is some confusion in this thread with that! I was very confused so I called and finally got an answer. I'm anxiously awaiting the final decision. It's killing me too!!

Interesting. I think they accept a lot of out of state students because a lot of people in florida will also apply to state schools and if accepted, will most likely choose the state school over UM since it's a fraction of the price. So maybe they don't want to "waste" acceptances on in-state FL students because in the past, they have chosen state schools over UM? That would be my guess.

I'm from NY but have lived in FL for a year so I'm technically in-state. Almost wonder if I should have kept my NY address and applied lol oh well too late now. The state schools near me all have January start dates. I have 2 more prereqs left and I'll be done the first week of May and really don't want to wait until January to start an ABSN program...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for UM!!

Does anyone know when the next group of decisions are going to be released? Also, can someone from admissions tells us over the phone if we are accepted or denied, or if our applications are currently being reviewed?

I don't think they will tell you over the phone. It's hard to get a straight answer, but I think they probably have so many people calling and emailing that they just are too busy to go through everyones file if someone calls. They do say that CaneLink may take a while to change status to "complete," so it's possible that an application may be complete but just will not show for a while.

I applied January 24 and NursingCAS JUST verified my GPA/transcripts. My status on CaneLink is still Incomplete lol I guess it's just waiting now.

So I called a few weeks ago and was told that they were reviewing the next round of applications (which I was told that I am in) on February 8th. So my theory is now that since they let the previous round know of the decision on the 6th, next round will have to wait for 2 weeks from that to see how many seats are available based on how many deposits they received. So I am guessing the earliest the next round of applications might hear is early next week. The wait is killing me though.

Good to know. Omg mine was just verified today on NursingCAS so I am probably going have to wait for the next round even after yours. Yes this wait is killing me!!
