University of Miami ABSN Summer 2018

Published

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami to start in May 2018? I am just finishing up my application now and hoping to submit it in a week or two. I'd like to connect to some others also applying!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

I got accepted too! I'm from New Jersey so it would be very exciting to get to experience Miami and meet all of you!

I've read on past forums that Miami doesn't offer on-campus housing to ABSN students. Accepted students would have to look mainly off campus. Can anyone confirm this? Just considering all my options.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!

I have probably already asked this earlier in this thread but I legit cannot get a straight answer from NursingCAS or UM lol, so I figured I should ask you guys and girls...

After your application was marked "complete" in NursingCAS, how long did it take to get your "complete" status on Canelink?

Also, angeloc-- I used to live in South Beach and worked in Coral Gables (where UM is) and honestly there are lots of apts near UM that are very affordable, some even walking distance to the campus. One reason why I really hope I get into UM bc it would be great to go to a school where I already know the area!

@adnat86 I submitt my verified app on 12/17 and it still says Incomplete. I think you can't get a straight answer because it doesn't seem there is one. From what I've read, it will say complete when they make a decision, not when things ar all complete and verified by NursingCAS.

Thank you for your response! I hope you are correct. That would actually make sense because NursingCAS did say that once it says complete in NursingCAS, the schools can see everything. I probably should've applied earlier, but oh well. I guess it's just waiting time now!

Hey you guys,

Any information on applying for scholarships, grants etc.. through the school? I know since we have second bachelor degrees it may be limited but I wasn't sure? Thx

@gypsyRN05 Thanks and (sorry for the late response)! Lol ...yeah UM is definitely one of the more affordable programs compared to some. Congrats on your acceptance and I am excited to meet all of you in May!

hey guys. So I am not sure if I am accepted.. In my canelink under the admissions tab it says "admitted" but when i click the link that says accept admission or decline payment it says I am not granted access.. Does anyone know what this means?

@Blessedc18 No worries! I've also heard that since we already have a Bachelor's degree financial aid probably won't be an option but i'm not 100% sure either. I haven't received anything about scholarships yet! I need to look into loans as well

@ mvr1234 Hey! Do you see a notification in your student center that says you have 1 unread message? That's where the letter will be. Good luck!

hey thanks.. they said the system just needs a day to catch up but admitted means yes. so excited

Congrats!!! :)

Hi everyone! I am new to this thread. I applied back in October and my canelink has changed to complete about 3 weeks ago. I am done with all of my prerequisites but I am still waiting on Nursing cas to verify my fall semester classes. All of my final transcripts are sent into Nursing cas but I still have not received a decision yet. I am starting to get nervous!! I hope they can view my final grades. Also, congrats to everyone who is accepted! And good luck to everyone who is still waiting as well!
