University of Miami ABSN Summer 2018

Published

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami to start in May 2018? I am just finishing up my application now and hoping to submit it in a week or two. I'd like to connect to some others also applying!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

So they look at the applications in order as they were sent in? That's frustrating if all the spots get taken up before they review all applications. I know some people applied at the end of January and that wouldn't be fair since technically we got it in before the deadline

So I called a few weeks ago and was told that they were reviewing the next round of applications (which I was told that I am in) on February 8th. So my theory is now that since they let the previous round know of the decision on the 6th, next round will have to wait for 2 weeks from that to see how many seats are available based on how many deposits they received. So I am guessing the earliest the next round of applications might hear is early next week. The wait is killing me though.
who did you call and talk too?

Does anyone know about how many people are accepted into the program?

And also, about housing resources?

Thanks

Hi all! I was also accepted into the ABSN program beginning this May. Are any of you looking for roommates? I am from Idaho and am not very familiar with the area or people! Would love to hear back.

Hi! I am interested in your place if this is still available?

about 70 admitted

do you know the names of any of these apartment buildings or resources to find available rooms?

Thanks

I'm going to be looking for a roommate as well! I'm moving from Orlando. Make sure to join the facebook group when you get accepted, it will probably be the easiest to talk and make living arrangements that way! :)

I know. They says there's a deadline which leads us to assume everyone is reviewed at the same time, but from what people are saying here, it's really a rolling admissions process. If I had known that, I defintiely would have applied earlier. However, they only give accepted students 2 weeks to accept or decline admissions offer. That's not much time for most people to figure out housing, get finances together, etc, so that could mean that a lot of people will back out and leave more spaces for people like us who applied late :D lol

Just for those who are confused about canelink saying "incomplete" regarding application status, I was told today that as long as everything on NursingCAS is complete and verified, canelink will say incomplete the entire time and will only be updated when a decision is made upon reviewing the NursingCAS application. They will send notice via email as well as update the canelink with the decision. Hope that helps!

omg thank you SO much for clarifying that. It makes sense, because mine has said Incomplete for almost a month now. So now I don't have to constantly check CaneLink lol.

Could any talk about the housing opportunities around the nursing school campus? Any two bedroom places available for someone with a child? Is the area reasonably safe? Is Miami awesome? I'd really appreciate your feedback. Also, could you comment on the speed of this program? Do you feel like a 12-month program is too fast to learn nursing skills and physiology/path/pharm? Any thoughts?

It is such a nice program, but I can't figure out some of these questions just by looking at the website and I don't have enough time to visit the school b/c decisions are due this week.
