University of British Columbia (UBC) BSN September 2016 Applicants

Published

For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.

I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.

Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!

I have used some on my personal statement but more detailed and expanded form.

I just submitted mine and I felt a shiver down my spine! haha

Goodluck to all

Thank you and good luck to you as well!

Are you all from BC?

I expanded one of my volunteer experiences that I've put down for my accomplishment section!

I don't think they care we put down the same thing on our personal statement! after all, it's something to introduce ourselves to the committee, not another "list" of accomplishments ! :D

No need to stress about it since it's already in :) Take a couple months (until we hear) away from thinking about the application :) It would be hard for most people to write a personal statement without talking about their past life experiences, so I wouldn't worry about stating something in both the activities and personal statement. I did that too.

I'm curious where else people applied. UBC is my one-shot dream school and as of now, I have not applied anywhere else.

Me too!! I just submitted :) do you mind sharing how you've put your personal statement together?

For mine I started with a story then transitioned into why i want to become a nurse...

I also talked about my past life and how I decided to become a nurse. It came just under 600 words.

I am from Vancouver and UBC is the only school I applied for.

Good luck everyone!

Hi Nursling! Are you me? XD

I've only applied to UBC because it's my school. If I don't get a chance this year, I'll try next year again with a bunch of other schools ! :)

Hi guys. Is it just me or are the spacings weird after handing in the supplemental? I just chekced and all the spaces and dents I've put in are gone.

It's now a big chunk of words !! Did this happen to anyone else? :barf02:

Yup, same thing happened to me. All my indentations and formats were disregarded.

My list of education and volunteer stuff looked almost illegible too. Just one long run on sentence. But, if they all look like that then I guess it doesn't matter.

I was going to ask the same question.

I'm scared to go check my ssc to find something I want to fix or change...

Well, for now I guess it's done and done :D

Don't worry, they all look like that :) Half of my application is a run-on sentence full of dashes and commas now. Resist the urge to check! Congratulations on submitting :D
