For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.
I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.
Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!
Hi everyone,
I have just discovered this blog, what a great resource! For the application, I've been writing mine like a detailed/expanded resume. If there's something I learned from that experience that would apply to nursing I expanded on that! I'm still working on the membership section though... What kind of experiences are you guys writing about here? I'm not totally sure on what counts as being a member of an organization. Thanks :)
Hi everyone, I am super excited to be applying . It's nice to see everyone helping each other out with their applications. Remember to speak YOUR thoughts when you apply. The best applications will be the ones that come from the heart. You know you best, and you should be proud when you press "submit" this weekend (if you haven't already). For the supplemental, different applicants will have different styles. I've read of some people getting interviews with a supplemental all in paragraph form, and others with point-form supplementals. That means that you should write in the style that best showcases your abilities and experiences (aka as long as it makes sense, format does not seem to matter). Everyone here seems to be dedicated to a future in nursing, and that's so great to see. I wish everyone the BEST of luck. I'm crossing my fingers for all of us, and hope to get to chat with you all again in March when we hear about interviews.
Another question everyone! It just occurred to me that right now and I am almost panicking. As we are only to use an one experience in one section only, does that mean that we cannot use any of those experiences listed under community/volunteer experience, leadership, working with others etc. in our personal statement?

Mines more like a resume with stuff in point form, but I have no idea if that's better or if paragraphs are better! I have a few in paragraphs where I am writing more about a personal experience than a role in an organization.
It might be good to relate it to being a good nurse though!
