University of British Columbia (UBC) BSN September 2016 Applicants

For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.

I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.

Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!

I too am applying for the second time around. I was wondering if anyone knows if re-applying is taken into account and if it affects the pre-interview score.

Good question. You apply fresh each year, however, I get the feeling people mention in their application this is their second (or third, or forth) time applying. It seems like this could impact our score on the supplementary application as it shows persistence, but would be good to know for sure.

I was more thinking that maybe it could affect it negatively, i.e. They may look back and see why I didn't get in last time. But it's good to see a positive outlook on it!

Found out that the interview process has changed and now is in the form of a panel interview over Skype. Does anyone know any more about that?

Hi YuliaJulia. Yes thanks to you I just found out ther interview process has changed!! what a surprise. Wondering why they would change the interviewing style- it seems a little less formal. I guess with skype interview sessions, more people can have the chance to take the interview...? Hopefully it doesn't become more competitive then it already is :S

They won't necessarily interview more people. Maybe they're trying to make it more accessible to people out of province. Who knows! Makes me nervous though! Good luck :)

I've just started my supplemental, trying to get it organized.

I think my gpa is just around the average entrance level, but not sure if it'll be competitive this year.

Oh, and for the Continuing Education part on the supplemental, what if you've never left school before? Should we leave it blank?

I'd just put "education has been continuous" or leave blank :)
