University of British Columbia (UBC) BSN September 2016 Applicants

Published

For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.

I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.

Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone! Just curious for those who did the interview with a Mac. I am trying to test my connection, webcam and audio and already downloaded the GotoMeeting. Just curious if you guys got the toolbar icon, because I wasn't able to. Were you able to see the toolbar appear when you started the interview?

I had the same issue, and I e-mailed tech support, and they said it's completely fine to not have the toolbar icon, as long as you have the screen with your name on it! Once the interviewers start the session, it allows you to enable your microphone and webcam and they make sure it's all set up before beginning.

Hey!

Hope everyone is doing well! Does anyone know how many people they took in last year? Meaning, are they very strict with admission numbers once they've gotten to the interview stage?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @OCsmash!

I asked a question to the general population of this forum, but maybe you would know as you entered the program last year. Do you know how many applicants they took from the interview stage? Was it over the advertised 120 limit? Thanks in advance for your reply!

From my understanding and what has been told to me by previous cohort members 120 is the magic number with very little deviation...in all honesty, I hope this is wrong and that more are allowed in.

Hi guys,

for those of you who did the interview already, can anyone tell me if their interview went under or over 15 minutes or was it stopped at exactly 15 minutes?

Specializes in General Internal Medicine, ICU.

Just want to send out good thoughts to you guys! I graduated from UBC 5 years ago (and my, where has the time gone?!) and I remember how nerve wrecking the process is!

Good luck!

@Kschribe, yes there were 120 of us accepted. Keep in mind a lot of people that are offered spots don't accept them. There are a bunch of people that were originally wait listed that got in. I'm not sure on exact numbers but I think there were quite a few.

@JJ2016 My interview was almost 15 minutes exactly. It wasn't over 15, but if I were to guess, I'd say it was between 14.5 minutes and 15 minutes.

Hi JJ2016. My interview was just under 15 minutes because it started about a minute late.

Did anyone get the follow up email Ruxandra talked about earlier?

No. Some of us on the interviewee facebook group have been discussing it, and it appears no one has received anything yet.
