University of British Columbia (UBC) BSN September 2016 Applicants

Published

For all of us applying to UBC's BSN 2016 program, let's communicate, share and give encouragement to one another throughout the process.

I just submitted my general UBC application to get the ball rolling early, and it already gave me access to get started on my supplemental application. This is my second time applying, so I hope to do a better job on my app this year and at least get an interview. But I have also accepted that this may not be my fate and I have other options.

Incidentally, to others who also applied previously: I phoned to make sure all my transcripts were still on file, and they are not! UBC admissions discards everything from last year. So I have six transcripts to send in again (including high school). Expensive and time consuming, and also seems a little crazy in the age of computers that they didn't keep electronic copies. But, we do what we have to do... Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone did a test set up in go to meeting and if you did were you able to try a test run? For some reason mine just keeps loading....any advice?

I believe that is what it is supposed to do. I think you are just supposed to check your 'audio' from there. Although, that function doesn't seem to work on my mac, no matter which browser I use.

When I got my rejection email, I didnt really feel devastated and/or disappointed. After years of working at a hospital, I have come to terms with myself that nursing is not for me. I guess the shift work, under-staffing and fast-paced/stressful environment somewhat drained my initial interest for the profession.

But working side-by-side with wonderful supernurses, I have my utmost respect for the profession. Cliche aside, I really do think nurses are superheroes! And it takes a special person to be a nurse. Goodluck with your endeavor!

On the other hand, I have done some research on other avenues to healthcare and I have taken interest in Sonography/ultrasound! I have also shadowed a sonographer for a day and I fell inlove with it. So my goal is towards that path. For the first time, I got so excited again!

I just finished the interview...I was so stressed, the interviewers were very nice. I am wishing you all the very best on your interviews and hope to see all of you in the near future...crossing my fingers and toes for all of you.

I did mine yesterday, it was a lot better than I thought it would be! Good luck everyone!

Im so happy to hear that you did well BCastle...congratulations! I felt so stressed immediately after the interview (I actually broke a lamp trying to get the best lighting possible minutes before). It took a while, but after talking things out with some friends, I'm starting to think I did pretty well too...although I think I wouldve felt better in a face to face interview...hope to see your post saying you got accepted soon. Hoping to see you in class some day too.

Now is the time to relax...take a deep breath, and wait a while...and in a little less than a month, refresh, refresh, refresh

Congratulations to you as well. It is honestly so hard to tell what they're looking for especially in such a short interview. I would actually prefer if they were an hour long rather than only 15 minutes.

I absolutely agree...15 minutes just feels so short...it feels like you dont have enough time to overcome any jitters or slip ups and get into your own mind-space. With that being said, at least were all in the same boat.

Just one quick ask for advice, is the UBC mmi sheet helpful at all?

I think it would be breaking confidentiality to answer that, because it would tell people whether or not there are MMI style questions in the interview

Sorry!

Good Luck Everyone!! I can't wait to see those of you who are successful in the fall!! I know the interview process can be super nerve wracking but you're all wonderful and amazing people no matter what the outcome. I got my acceptance letter around May 7th last year if that helps some of you know when you might expect something :)
