I am dealing with lots of unhappy parents recently.
The previous nurse (who was so surprisingly let go) was allowing students to bring in their own daily ADHD meds. Now they are upset with me for enforcing the policy/law. Ug. I hate being the messenger.
Is anyone else having problems editing their posts??
I tried to add- It's taking all my restraint to tell the parent that the two nurses who allowed that are no longer with the district. One was fired during my training and I'm thinking that was part of it.

If they are that unhappy I always refer to them to the administrator if they want to complain.
Edit: I am having no problems with editing.

I haven't been able to edit for a while
I would have referred her to an administrator if she kept being insistent. I just stayed quiet while she ranted and repeated myself. She sighed heavily and let me know what a pain this was for her.

I was new to the school I am in too. I simply stated the policy, and where it can be found for further reference and that I am not the other "HA" that was here and I have my own way of doing things. By all means they can speak to my supervisor at any time they wish. Then "if" it get's that far i give my super the heads up.

BooHoo poor parent, so sad, too bad. You will soon get them in line I'm sure.

kidzcare, parents hate change and the extra work on them. Agree with the too bad, and stick to your guns.
As for the editing, you should go to Site Feedback or PM Joe V or one of the mods. They are very helpful.

So these kids were bringing their medication from home every day and simply taking it in front of the school nurse?
Wow, that's risky. No wonder they aren't working for you the district anymore.
There is quite the street market for those drugs!

I'm finding my previous nurse was very lax on important things, too. We have kids behind on shots & were way past exclusion date. I have no parent/doctor signed emergency plans for my asthmatics or epipen kids. When knows what else I'll find. Maybe she planned on leaving from the beginning of the year? Maybe she just relied on the fact that she's been there so long? Who knows. All I know is it's a lot of work for me & parents are aggravated.

Hakuna Matata - enjoy the show!!
No, they were bringing in their refills to leave in the nurse's office. Transporting 30-60 pills at a time. I have no idea what the street value is on that, but imagine it on the bus! Yikes!!
Same stuff here! Lots of unsigned med orders or meds in the office with no documentation.

When a parent kicks, I just send them a copy of both school and state policy.
