UNF Summer 2011 Accelerated BSN Hopeful

Published

Hello. I am hoping to get into UNF for the summer of 2011. I have taken the TEAS and am taking all of the pre-req courses. I am curious what other people got on their TEAS V and what their Pre-Req GPA is that are also trying to get into the accelerated program this summer. Also, any ideas on what the group interview will be like and what questions will be asked?

I got my letter yesterday too ... I have an 11:30 interview. So happy!:yeah:

Hey Julianna326- I also have an interview @ 11:30! See you there :)

That's great, Natty 21! Did you apply for the accelerated program or the regular one? I applied for accelerated but would be thrilled with getting into either one. All my eggs are in this one basket ... I didn't apply anywhere else. How about you?

So, for those of you who, like me, have all of your eggs in UNF's proverbial basket.....what is your Plan B?

Plan B for me is to apply for fall admission into the regular BSN program (UNF); Plan C is apply next January for the Summer 2012 program (UNF); Plan D is apply for FSCJ's nursing program, work for a year after graduation and earn the minimum number of clinical hours as an RN and then apply for UNF's RN to BSN bridge program; Plan E is to give up completely!

Last year, I was in the same boat and I was waitlisted, which really screwed me into working another year in a job I loathe. This year, I have already been accepted into an out-of-state ABSN program (actually, it's the same school that waitlisted me last year), one in which I would have to pay out-of-state tuition. If I can help it, I would love to pay as little as possible for a nursing education but at least comforted to know I have an option to fall back on.

GET RID OF THAT PLAN E! Never. Give. Up!

As I understand it, some will be offered seats in the accelerated program and others will be offered seats in the regular one as a result of the March 11 interviews. Does that sweeten the odds?

Has anyone written or called UNF to verify whether or not accelerated applicants are offered regular seats? I must admit, i have heard that a few times as well.

Yes, they are. I remember them saying this @ an info session I attended back in Nov. Interviewees would be offered a seat in either the accelerated or basic program. 24-30 seats are in the accelerated, and about 48 are in the basic. I will double check those #s from my notes (yes, that is what I have in my notes).

Wow, someone can literally get declined and accepted in the same day.

That's awesome prospects for accelerated applicants. :yeah:

Unfortunately, i'm a traditional applicant, so it looks as if i'll be competing against two pools of applicants for my seat. :hdvwl:

Does anyone know the hospitals in the JAX area that UNF contracts with for clinicals? Is Wolfson Children's one of those sites? I am pretty sure Shands and Mayo are two sites as well, but not 100% sure. Curious to know, thanks!

"Students are assigned to many of the local hospitals and community agencies, including some nursing homes, throughout the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Clinical sites include, but are not limited to, Shands Jacksonville, Baptist (downtown), St. Vincent‟s, Memorial, St. Luke‟s, Brooks Rehab, Wolfson‟s, and Specialty. This info comes straight from UNF.

I also applied to the Accelerated program at UNF. I have 4.0 pre-req and 384 (96%) for my TEAS. I am excited to find out the status of everything. I also applied to UCF, and I am planning on taking the GRE next month to apply to UF. I just wanted to cover my bases ;)

GRE? Where were you for the GRE Math and English prep in October? Nope, not doing it. Seriously folk's, you JUST found out that there were less than 20 seat's!!!!
