My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
Grey Lady!I feel honored that you have joined this thread! I am sure you are used to be bombarded with questions..But do you have an estimated time that us BSN applicants will hear back?! I applied to Shady grove..I don't know if that makes a difference!
I got in contact with admissions and they notified me (as firenze25 stated earlier in the thread) that all final decisions should be made mid-to late November. I know this doesn't help much but it's something!

Whatever admissions tells you is where we stand. It's a big job with many variables and, basically, decisions are announced as quickly as possible. Applicants are reviewed without regard to requested campus. As to when you will find out - the process has been to change your status first online to either Admit Institution or Provisional Admit, the latter meaning that some prerequisite courses are outstanding and our offer is provisional that these courses will be completed before Orientation with a grade of B or better. Then the admissions staff will call all admitted students (so make sure your phone number on your application is correct). After that I will be calling Shady Grove students with information specific to our campus.
Yay it's @Grey Lady!!! I have a question. Past forums there have been so many applicants that were participating and for some reason we haven't had that many. Were there still the same number of applicants as the semesters before? Have the numbers gone down(Probably not)?

Our applicant numbers are about the same. Numbers for spring semester are normally less than for fall but not significantly so. I could not find this thread until very recently as I was looking in the Maryland folder under "US" which is where they always were before. Maybe others are having the same issue. An earlier poster mentioned that Shady Grove is accepting more students than we have been and that is true. Our original target number of 48 was increased to 56 for fall of 2015 and to 64 for spring 2016 and thereafter. Best of luck to you all!
The anxiety is starting to build, Grey Lady! We are currently learning PARTICLE PHYSICS in gen chem and it is absolutely horrible! I am pushing on but it is so hard. Seeing a "Provisional Admit" will be the little push that I need! But, we have all waited this long, we can handle another week or two!! AHHHH :) :) :)
I looked at old forums from Spring 2013, 2014, and 2015 and each forum several members posted their online status changed as early as NOVEMBER 1ST. THAT IS CRAZY! Only TWO DAYS stand between today and November 1st. I don't know if we will hear that early, but still! My stomach is in knots right now. It all comes down to this!!!!!!!! How amazing/nerve-wracking/AH
@kkendall0621 I'm going to the main campus one. There's a separate forum for Towson Spring 2016 if you want to check that out. From the past Towson threads that I have seen, I saw that some have accepted their offer from Towson but when they found out that they got admitted to UMSON, they just notified the university about not attending anymore. Of course the fee would not be refundable.
I have a couple question! Please any advice is greatly appreciated.
I am going to be done with my pre reqs in spring 2016 and UMSON is my dream school.
Q1) Is it okay to retake classes and apply to UMSON?.....I have repeated 3, however my gpa is a 3.8 because I did well when i repeated the classes. The reason why I am asking is because I am getting freaked. I saw on another thread that nursing schools don't accept repeated courses?!
Q2) If I finish my pre-reqs by spring 2016 is it correct that I would apply for Spring 2017 because the deadline for fall 2016 is Feb 1st?...I know I am way ahead.
Q3) If I have a 3.5-3.8 overall science gpa and a 3.8 overall gpa, does that give me a good shot at getting a spot in the BSN program?
I would be SO thankful for any comments or advice! Thank you
@slee1532 you can apply to the fall program before you finish your prereqs! There is a prerequisite course sheet that you can fill out with the estimated date of being done with your classes. You don't have to be done at time of applying, just by the time of starting the program.
Of course a high GPA would give you a boost! Since the process is so competitive. But I (think) that having a well rounded application is better. A couple people with excellent grades who didn't get accepted have told me they called the school and they told them they didn't have any experience or enough volunteer work. I have around a 3.3 GPA, but a pretty excellent TEAS score and I got wait listed twice lol. So if I were you since you aren't planning on applying til winter, I would make an appointment for an application review with them so they can look at a potential application and tell you what can be improved for a higher chance of acceptance. Someone I had a class with did it and she said it was very enlightening aka they tore her apart haha.
