Hello, all!
My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
Well I am a CNA and have 2 years of experience working in a GI docs office as an MA. I got a 74 on the teas and had 3.1 as my GPA. But I have a lot of volunteer experice at the university of Maryland medical center at shock trauma. I'm hoping I had two good recommendation letters and a bomb resume because I have a lot of experience. I also wrote the essays and hope I did a good job explaining myself to them.
Sigh... I feel like all our stats are across the board. It's so hard to tell whether you'll get in or not. You'd hope if you have great strength in one area they'd focus their energy on that and see that you have potential to make a great nursing student. If only we knew what goes on in the minds of the admissions committee
OKAY, I just would like to know everyones stats or like a ball park. Because I don't have amazing scores or GPA but I have a lot of work/volunteer experice. I just wanna know if you guys have any idea of what they look for, or of they look at a well rounded application? I see some of the GPAs and scores that you guys have and I felt like I did not do good enough to match up.

For me, I volunteered at the ER in the hospital I currently work at in high school yearsss ago, but for some reason I didn't include that on my resume (big mistake on my part, probably) and also had work experience in a gastroenterology clinic. I'm not sure my experience will be enough for them since my overall and science GPAs are mediocre (compared to everyone else on here) and had to retake a science prereq back when I was in undergrad. I felt pretty confident in my essays, but then again I'm not quite sure what admissions is looking for and I'm starting to feel like I should have written them over. I retook my TEAS and got a 82% or somewhere around that range, again average compared to other stats on here. And I got great letters of recommendation from my most recent instructors (from whom I took my last two prereqs with in the summer) but there wasn't much time for them to get to know me better all around, just my academic strength. Didn't help that I worked during the day and took classes right after at night so there wasn't much time to go to office hours or to chat after class
I really am starting question everything on my application even though I spent the last 6 months staring at my materials being confident, hoping and praying that admissions will see that I'm passionate about going to nursing school even though my previous grades work against me
.
Sorry for the long post guys, there's just a lot going in my mind, and I'm sure on everyone's mind who's on waitlist and are still waiting to hear back.
