Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

I just called Admissions to find out what is going on. The lady told me that the decisions will be released this week, no matter the outcome. They will let us know if we got admitted, wait listed or rejected by the end of this week.

@chinar37 that's a relief to hear. I'm getting so frustrated lol. Thank you for calling on behalf of everyone who hasn't heard back yet

Yes, thank you so much for checking in with admissions, Chinar37! At least we'll know our fates by Friday.

Hey guys! I got waitlisted today :)

Does anyone know anything about the Balitmore campus? or the main difference between the both?

I'm excited! I heard both programs were equally great.

kmichellex, at least you still have a shot to get in possibly :) I know a friend of mine who already graduated from the program and he was waitlisted then got in during the last weeks of December, so there is still hope. From what I've heard, the program is the same at both campuses, just different locations and that Baltimore campus is considerably bigger compared to Shady Grove. But the program is the same at either location. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

I also applied at the Baltimore campus as well. As of now, I'm finishing my last two prerequisites from PGCC :) i honestly didn't think I was gonna get in since the only healthcare experience I had was volunteering at PG hospital in the ER department and writing essays are not my best skills but I did try my best on it! Looking back through these past threads, I had just little confidence in myself but wow, I'm still in shock haha. For those of you who are still waiting, do NOT give up! I am hoping all of you guys will be accepted! Best of luck to you guys :D

Yeah, no problem...Goodluck everyone (:

And please, if anyone gets their updates, let us know. Maybe be can expect ours soon enough. Thank you guys. I am so glad we can talk about this because my other friends that are already in school don't have this issue so they don't understand the anxiety we have to go through. This forum makes me feel better

I had no volunteer experience... I just got a good essay and had two amazing letters of recommendation from a notable doctor in the US who taught me anatomy and also from my Physio teacher. I think they really do look at your character overall.

Yea my confidence has been shot down hearing that everyone has medical experience :-( I figured I might have a chance because I didn't do horribly on the TEAS (83), got amazing teacher recommendations, and have a 3.9 GPA.... but I have no medical experience. I'm hoping I don't get turned down because of that, it wouldn't be very fair considering not everyone can afford to take time off of school to work in the medical field, nor can everyone work while attending school full time! I am working hard to get into nursing school so I can THEN work in the medical field. It's like that whole experience conundrum, where you can't get a job because they want you to have experience but you can't get experience because no one will give you a job. Grrr this is so frustrating. Does anyone else know of anyone who got accepted with no experience? I could use a glimmer of hope right about now.

I had a years internship in the neonatal unit of Mercy Hospital in baltimore, but that was my senior year of high school so I don't think they'll really care

@marebear82189 that definitely counts as experience!!! That would be great. I really believe all experience counts, and an internship for a year is awesome

I had NO healthcare experience and a pretty terrible teas score (I think it was a 74. Ran out of time on math but scored in the 90th percentile for everything else). I think my LOR and essays (I wrote all three) got me in.
