Hello, all!
My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
Hey @ achiever67 , so wait listed means you wait a semester? Or it depends?
I actually had a 70 on my TEAS. and my GPA isn't that high either, it's currently a 3.3/3.4 one of those. I have no health care experience besides volunteer hours which were small and my medical assistance lic. from high school. but I did apply to Balitmore maybe because more students apply to shady groove I was waitlisted and not flat out rejected (not yet at least)
I really really don't want to be waitlisted :-\ I will have completed my prerequisites this semester and I think I'll go crazy if I have to wait around a whole semester for another chance. It's not as though we can take more classes towards our bsn once our prerequisites are complete, can we?

Tell me about it, since I was waitlisted last semester, I'm even more anxious to get in now than I was last semester! Honestly, I didn't waste this semester, though. I took a CNA class and am volunteering right now since I didn't have any experience before.
For anyone who is waitlisted-- 1) at least you still have a chance and 2) It goes faster than you think!
Here I am answering my own question lol. But I just remembered I went to an info session last year and they told us what our schedule will look like. So I searched my computer for a picture ( I remembered I took one of the information) and found it! I'm not sure if this has changed much since two semesters ago but it's as follows: Lecture- 2 or 3 days/week. Labs- 10 to 15 hrs/week. Clinical- 2 or 3 days/week.I know it's early to be getting into logistics but I am too excited right now! Hope this helps anyone.
Congrats to all of you who got in! I'm in my first semester and the 2 bits of advice...enjoy your winter break! The schedule is demanding but I absolutely love it.
You'll have 5 classes your first semester and 3 include a lab or clinical component. As you'll probably hear from others, the schedule varies from week to week first semester. You won't start your fundamentals clinical until week 8 or 9...so if you don't chose any other classes that day, you will have a day off early in the semester. Hint hint...it's great to catch up on studying. Other than that one day, plan to be on campus the rest of the week.
You will need to buy your own stethoscope and can buy your own scrubs as long as they meet the guidelines in the student handbook. The bookstore sells a patch you can iron on. Also, look at multiple sources for buying books. Professors seem to often allow or encourage use of earlier editions that are cheaper.
Good luck and congrats!
