Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

For those who have heard something back, have you received a call? I am thinking they may wait until they have changed all of the accepted statuses before the start calling, knowing that people are anxiously waiting. Such gives me hope that they are still in the process of changing statuses!!

I haven't heard back yet, but I've already made a decision on where I'm going even if I get accepted so I won't be going to UMSON :arghh:. I would've loved to meet all of you but I hope to see you in the profession.

I haven't received a call or anything.

@blessedNhopeful Well good for you :) I am glad you have been able to make a decision. Where are you going?

I'll be going to GW. I'm so happy for all of you!! Whether you got accepted to Towson, UMSON, or any other, we're all nursing students. Congrats and good luck to everyone!

Hmm there doesn't seem to be a lot of people getting decisions today (at least on here) besides cgardner8 earlier this morning. Maybe I'm speaking too soon... there still is approximately 9 hours left in this day:sarcastic:

Congrats blessedNhopeful!! GW is an amazing school. I took microbiology with a girl this past summer who was in the GW Nursing Program, and she said it was great!

That's GREAT to hear. Like maybe many of you I'm excited and super nervous!

@blessedNhopeful I hear GW has an excellent nursing program! Ranked within the top 10 I believe? Awesome!

And I agree, no matter where you are going, it is NURSING SCHOOL. It is an amazing accomplishment!

@kayrock, my status changed after 5pm....That's why I was so shocked. I figured after 5, admissions left, and that is that. THERE IS STILL PLENTY HOPE. Did you apply anywhere else?

@casmithx95 I also have two letters of recommendation from my favorite professors from my undergrad...idk what they said but one of them was my senior project advisor and he described it as "effusive". I think it just comes down to the rest of the applicant pool and the more competitive. I have worked with nurses that went through the Towson program and they are so efficient and wonderful. I've heard great things about the MC nursing program too. I can't wait either way!

casmithx95, regrettably I did not :(. I got into MC's nursing program for this fall but declined the offer because I wanted to try for a BSN since I already have my bachelor's from UMCP. If I end up not getting accepted or waitlisted this time, next time I will definitely apply to another program just to keep my options open. Putting everything into just one program probably isn't the best move for me especially because my GPA isn't all that great.

@cmblanc Have you been accepted to Towson AND MC?? If so, that is great! Of course, UMSON is prestigious, but the other two programs are great too!! It is all what you make of it! A school can only do so much, you know? Who you are as a person, as a student, and as a nurse are so important and cannot be determined based upon the school! You will do great no matter what!
