Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

I even said to my boyfriend: "Honestly, it's okay if I didn't get accepted" hahahaha

Me too! I've spent so much time talking about how great my back up option is! Haha (ccbc paired with Towsons ATB program, so I'd still graduate with a BSN)

Seems like we won't hear anything today:(

I'm honestly dead set on not hearing anything until after the 9th. That's what I'm going with.

I agree, I didn't even check the site once today. I believe we will hear back sometime next week. Bummer...But oh well!

I just realized that I probably won't hear back for a while if they do it in alphabetical order. My last starts with a S! Anyone have a last name at the begining of the alphabet??

I'm not sure if they do it alphabetically but my last name begins with C!

Going off of previous forums, there is no specific order!

So while we wait, are any of you planning on working part time if you begin school in the Spring?

I would like to. I have to see how the schedule is. But I would really like to work and gain a little experience while going to classes.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I wonder if there's any externships associated with UMSON. I'm sure there is, just have to do some digging. I feel like getting clinical experience during school (aside from clinicals) will benefit us in the future in terms of landing a job. Seems like almost all hospitals, depending on where you go, look for some sort of experience in their departments. Then again there are some hospitals who welcome new grads with open arms! I know I"m thinking way into the future but I can dream :D

I currently work at Carroll Hospital Center, which is in my town, as a PCT. I am PRN (as needed) so I can really just pick up whenever! I work on a MED/SURG unit and it is amazing experience! Hospitals hire nurse externs once you have completed the first semester (I believe)
