UMSON Fall 2015

Published

REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).

This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!

I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:

AP1. -- B

AP2. -- A

CHEM -- B

MICRO -- A

I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)

yea pinkeagle it was rly fast...i got a letter last night. the letter said "the committee met and your application was among the ones reviewed." i am supposed to send a letter of intent by next week :(.which sucks bc we don't hear from umson for a while...

it looks like they review in batches and maybe it was by name or prior degree or something? i wouldn't worry abt it :)

Oh boy...I hope I won't wait as long as last year. I received a letter by the first week of March and it was a letter stating that I was waitlisted. I did eventually get off the waitlist but I'm hoping this year I get in earlier.

PinkEagle,

I received the same letter. Roughly around the same time but I had checked my SIMS prior to receiving the letter to find out my determination. SIMS was much quicker. Try that route in the future.

What is SIMS?

SURFS. I apologize. UMSON uses the online technology referred to as SURFS not SIMS. SIMS was the online technology for a previous school of mine. The abbreviation stands for system insight manager

Well all of my application documents for UMDSON are officially turned in and I'm 90% done with my graduate nursing school applications! This year I submitted everything in a big cardboard envelope (the kind that says "DO NOT BEND") and I wrote in big letters "application materials enclosed". I'm hoping that this will make things easier for whoever has to sort through all the documents and update SURFS!

...and now the waiting game BEGINS! :nailbiting:

They finally received all my requirements and my status changed to complete ready for review...I'm sure all you guys will definitely hear before me

Did you apply for BSN of CNL? Once my status says complete and ready for review I promised myself not to check it until my birthday May 4th or unless I get called for an interview!!

BSN-DNP and you are better than me. I know I will be checking at least once a day now, just in case I miss anything (lol).

DNP?? AWESOME!! I know I'm thinking fast but I'm really looking forward to getting a Doctorate degree in the future. I already feel so proud of myself for applying to grad school, I can't wait to keep going!

Hi everyone!

I just started my first week of classes in the BSN program, at UMSON's Shady Grove campus. The workload is heavy (so are the books!) already, so I probably won't be on here much. I just wanted to wish all of you the best of luck! Feel free to message me with questions anytime. I'm sure some of my classmates will check in periodically, since it was not long ago that we were in your shoes. It feels like ages ago, though! It's a whole other world, I can tell you that much, even just in the first week. This is a great resource, I made a lot of friends from my application group, and it helps to have buddies, right from the start.

I can give you advice in one word: patience. Decisions are not usually given out until mid-May, at the earliest. It's an agonizing wait, but it is what it is. You can't speed it up and all the worrying in the world won't help you! Enjoy the slowness while you can, because once you're accepted, your to-do list grows daily, and you have to hit the ground running every day! Once your application is in, just focus on you current classes, because they are important.

Good luck! I hope to see some of you in the fall!

Hi all! Just curious, did your transcripts have a received date on them on your application status? Mine just says my school, but no received date. Not sure if that means they made it there or not. I know the deadline is next Monday so do you think they are willing to accept the transcripts after that date? I sent them in over 3 weeks ago = /

hello everyone!

i'm also applying for fall 2015. i just finished my application this past wednesday, but i had sent in my supplemental documents and references letters in advance. since i technically wasn't an applicant until a couple days, i'm wondering if those documents that i sent earlier were thrown out. does anyone know what happens in this situation? i'm about to call the office on monday to get a clear answer, but i'm scared that they might have thrown out my documents...
