UMDNJ Accelerated BSN students

Published

I was just accepted to the program starting this fall (August 30th?) and would like to start a forum among the 50 students that were accepted. I have already run into one other student online. I have a feeling we'll need to get very close knit rather fast to get through the program. Since our lives will necessarily have to be studying all the time I'm sure it'll be helpful to form study groups, etc. I will probably be planning a meet and greet before classes start.

Sincerely,

Marc Adam Goodman

Belle- Thanks for the information. I am seriously considering applying to UMDNJ for Fall 2009. I wanted to know what is the numeric passing grade for all the classes? When is the best time to apply? I heard that sometimes its best to apply for the spring or summer due to less number of applicants.

Hey Everyone,

I was just accepted to UMDNJ's Accelerated BSN Program that starts in Spring 2009. I am very excited but I am also a bit concerned about the safety of the Newark campus. Can any current students let me know how they feel regarding safety on campus?

Thank you

I haven't run into any situations where I've felt that my safety was compromised. During orientation, the Chief of Police will give a presentation about the campus and important numbers that all students should know. Despite the location, the Newark campus is fairly safe. No matter your location, you should always take safety precautions. Patrol cars frequent the parking lots. To pass each class, you need a 75 which is a C+ and anything under this is considered failing. You can fail up to two classes before you fail out of the program..But you guys will all pass, so this doesn't apply to you:D. :typing if you have anymore questions, I am available until the semester begins again in January. Good Luck!!

Also forgot to include that RWJ is also a clinical site for UMDNJ.

Hi there I saw your post. I am in the UMDNJ ABSN program at Stratford. I am in my 3rd semester. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

My name is Kate.

Hi there,

I applied to the program in April 2008 got in for May 2008. I believe that there may be a wait list at this point. I live in Central Jersey only 35 min from Newark, but I am driving to the Stratford campus 1.5 hours away. All I can say is its worth the drive. Depending on where you live, I wouldn't rule out the other UMDNJ location.

Belle923, thank you for posting this I've decided to go with UMDNJ in Stratford. Thanks for all the info.

Kate (katieM74),

I'm starting the ABSN in Stratford this summer (May 09).

I've read some posts about Newark but haven't seen much on the program at Stratford. Can you give me any insight?

I'd like to get a head start, any ideas on what to read up on or get ready for?

I know you must be crazy busy, any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know how you make that commute everyday, bless your heart.

xarmy guy,

I was also accepted for May, its nice to see someone else who will be going to stratford. What are you doing to prepare for this journey :). Bree

Is any one familiar with the PDA requirement? Can i use my smart Phone instead of buying a palm t/x?

Yeah the PDA. You have to have one and use the software they require. So long as your iPhone can be turned off so the ringer isn't on is should be OK. When we started there were students who wanted to use blackberryies, but they couldn't because of the ringer issue. The best bet would be to call the school and speak with Devita, she is the Dean's secretary. The other concern I would say with your phone, do you really want the thing you are using for patient care also to be the thing you have in close contact with your mouth and ears? Just a thought.

To be honest I don't use mine a whole lot, but it is requried.

Hey all!

I have also been accepted to umdnj's ABSN program at the stratford campus for may 2009, but I'm way more interested in taking classes at the newark campus. i've heard that the newark campus is more competitive, and i requested a second review of my application to see if i might be eligible for fall admission... but does anyone know if its possible to transfer campuses once you start?

also does any one have details about the orientation on monday, as in what time and where we should meet, and if i need to bring anything? i just got my acceptance packet last week and i'm not sure of the details orientation details yet.

thanks
