Anyone out there apply? I have seen threats for previous years, but none for this year. Just thought I would get one going!
JR and umddude, super good to hear! I'm not sure if it's possible for that NSG class to be covered by other classes since it is a nursing specific class in which I sure do hope they offer it in summer. Glad to hear that the school is well accredited and known, and also the cheapest in Boston! Being in the city would only benefit due to the huge medical network and obviously having our internships at some of the tops hospitals in the US. I also spoke directly to a nursing advisor saying that many people have part time jobs in the program since it is so structured and scheduled ahead of time. I met a couple of students saying that they finished in less than 2.5 years stating that they weren't in the accelerated but indeed in the traditional....weird right?
Checked my status today and it FINALLY said complete. Now I will just neurotically check everyday until I hear something or it changes...I will be working part time too. I have a family to take care of and I can't afford not to! What are CNA jobs out that way like? I've been a CNA for 5 years and have 4 years experience in an ICU...so, hopefully that will help me out with job prospects.
@cquachie - that (finishing under 2.5 years) does sound interesting. I looked at the curriculum with my advisor and the earliest I could get the degree is 2.5 yr; and I start 4th semester right away in this Fall. He told me that summer nursing courses are "reserved" for accelerated students only. But maybe there's a way around it.
I plan to work PT or per-diem as well, and actually got a gig at a nearby psych hospital but couldn't make it to their full-time orientation due to my class schedule. But the hiring manager wants me to start in June, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed since it's the area I've been most interested in. I want some relevant experience before graduation for sure.
But you're right about umb's low cost and close proximity to major medical facilities. It's the only BSN program I applied to for those reasons and because I live less than 15 min away from it.
btw, if any of you are coming from out of state and have questions about the area PM me...maybe I could offer some insight.
Good luck ObrienMP. I submitted 1/23 and my status just changed yesterday to " we will send a letter shortly" after having been complete for 24 hours. I have had wonderful experiences with the admissions office. They responded quickly and even let me know well before my application was complete (and before the deadline) that my application was all set and considered. I am sure you will hear soon :).
TaylorS9...awesome, keep us posted. I will also keep you posted! I received that letter the last week of January...just waiting now.
@umbdude. I just put my deposit in a few days ago. Do you know if I'll already have an advisor that I can work with now? I'd love to find out which of my courses transfer and what my cirriculum will look like; or do you have one already from being a former student?
@JR- Actually, I'm not really sure. When I got my acceptance email I was told to contact the advisor right away in case I want to start in Spring. But I think you can just call the CNHS office to set up a meeting with a nursing advisor since you're now a UMB student! There's also an updated nursing handbook and curriculum on the website you could look at; that might give you a sense of what you'll need to take. Let me know what they say.
I called admissions today and they let me know a decision had been made on February 3rd, and that I could expect notification in the mail. My online status still reads "your application is complete." Not sure what this could mean, but with so many people having an online status changing before receiving an acceptance letter, well I'm nervous.

Hi TaylorS9,
I got the same response. Have you received a letter yet?
Thanks.
